Titleist Vokey SM7 Raw wedges now available via WedgeWorks
WedgeWorks customers asked and Vokey delivered: SM7 wedges are now available in a raw finish.
The tour-preferred finish is available in all 23 SM7 right-handed loft, bounce and grind combinations. On the left-handed side, the six most popular bounce and grind options are also available.
SM7 Raw wedges feature Vokey’s proprietary heat treatment for enhanced groove durability (raw wedges traditionally wear faster than finished models). This is the first time such a heat treatment has been applied to a Vokey Raw wedge.
“Raw means there is no additional finish applied to the wedge, which is made of 8620 carbon steel. It has what I like to call a satin appearance that will start to rust after some use,” says Bob Vokey.
“On tour, the Raw heads give us the flexibility to grind wedges based on a player’s needs. But guys just love the look of that raw steel – some players like it even more as it rusts, kind of like a trusty hammer or another tool. These are their scoring tools.”
For the first time SM7 Raw can be customized with any of the WedgeWorks toe engravings. This includes the traditional tour saw that appears on in-line SM7 wedges, as well as the BV Custom, BV Clover, BV Wings or BV Fleur-de-lis logos.
PGA Tour pros gaming SM7 Raw wedges include, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Adam Scott, Brian Harman, Charley Hoffman, Patrick Cantlay, Webb Simpson, and Russell Henley.
SM7 Raw wedges are available now on Vokey.com, starting at $195 (which includes 10 character stamping, custom shaft bands, and BV Wings grip).

Coolest thing for sale in the GolfWRX Classifieds (4/5/24): I think I ‘Blacked Out’ trying to love these irons
At GolfWRX, we are a community of like-minded individuals that all experience and express our enjoyment of the game in many ways.
It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.
Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, there is a listing for a set of blacked out P770 irons
From the seller: (@hammertime1515): “Just one single iron set up for grabs today. Got these right before they quote selling them at the end of February. Only played 3 full rounds with them and a couple short range sessions. 7 iron shows the most wear and 8 iron has a sandy mark on the toe (ball striking out of winter wasn’t the strong suit) Just not right for me no matter how much I wanted them to be. Price is shipped and OBO……
P770 Black Out irons. 4-PW. —New Tour Velvet Align Midsize Grips —1/2” over TM standard —2 degrees upright —Standard Lofts —Dynamic Gold 105 X100 shafts —PW has never been hit, most of them have been hit sparingly. Tried to capture the wear on the 7 iron and the toe mark on the 8 iron the best I could. Soles have virtually no scratching from use and no bag chatter. -If more pics are needed just ask ——PRICE: $1000 OBO” & Shipped

Spotted: Axis1 prototype broomstick putter
We have seen an uptick in longer putters out on the professional tours with players gravitating toward either counterbalanced or broomstick styles. As a refresher, A “broomstick” putter is a long putter that is usually built to a length that goes up to your chest. If you have seen Adam Scott putt in a tournament recently, he uses what is classified as a broomstick putter.
Axis1 might not be the most common brand in the world of putters but they have been around a while, most notably in Justin Rose’s bag.
Axis1 is known for a putter that doesn’t look traditional but a design is used to get the center of gravity to the center of the club face, aligned with the shaft. This technology keeps the face aligned with the ball throughout the stroke. More traditional putters rotate around the shaft axis, which doesn’t align with the center of the putter, making it easier for the putter face to not be square to the target at impact.
This week at the Valero Texas Open, we spotted a prototype Axis1 putter in a long broomstick version. The head shape looks very similar to the current Axis1 Tour-HM putter that the company currently makes, which is a more squared-off mid-mallet. The prototype looks to have a similar multi-material head with a 304 stainless steel face mated to a composite back. Twin site lines run together, on the topline and on the flange, to create a longer line for aligning the putter. The steel face has a fairly shallow milling to it, and the flowing heel hosel connects to the aggressive shaft bend.
A matching black shaft is installed, and at the grip end is Super Stroke’s Zenergy Tour 1.0 two-piece in white and black. No word on if or when this will come to retail yet.

So $50 more gets you a raw finish, so you can grind it yourself, and if you want a specific steel shaft there is an upcharge? So we’re talking $250 befoe stamping – I like the wedge but give us a break.

At these prices, I think more than lefties are getting “the shaft!”
