While most of the top-ranked players in the world are competing in China this week at the WGC-HSBC Champions, the Sanderson Farms Championship is set to host some notables including Zac Blair, Angel Cabrera, Luke Donald, Harris English, Chesson Hadley, Beau Hossler, Smylie Kaufman, Hunter Mahan, Davis Love III, Shawn Stefani, Daniel Summerhays, Brendon Todd and more.

It’s all about the shape and color at the back of the clubheads… because that’s where all the mojo is …. and gearheads can’t get all hot and bothered by the clubface grooves.

    Oh where, oh where
    Have the gearheads gone?
Oh where, oh where can they be?
    With shirts cut short
    And pants cut long
Oh where, oh where can they be?
I last saw them by the putting green
    Playing and puttering around
But I just can’t see them there anymore
They just can’t seem to be found
Perhaps the club pro over there will know
He may have seen them go by
    Who knows where
They might have decided to go
But we’ve got to give it a try

Phil Mickelson, who has two top-5 finishes at Shinnecock Hills, will seek to fill out his career Grand Slam with a win this week. Also, it’s Tiger Woods’ 10-year anniversary of winning the legendary 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines — that was his most recent major championship victory.

Also in the field are headliners Dustin Johnson (now ranked No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings), Justin Thomas (No. 2), Justin Rose (No. 3), Jon Rahm (No. 4) and Jordan Spieth (No. 5).

Brooks Koepka (No. 9) is the defending champion; he won last year by four shots for his first and only major so far in his career.
