Paul Casey debuts a limited colorway of Nike’s new “Lunar Control Vapor 2” golf shoes

Published

on

We spotted new Nike Golf shoes on the feet of Paul Casey at the 2017 Tour Championship, which at first appeared to be some sort of unreleased version of Nike’s Lunar Control Vapor shoes. Like the original Vapors released in 2016, Casey’s shoes at the Tour Championship feature what looks to be the “Articulated Traction” soles that have ridges instead of spikes.

The man himself, however, has confirmed on our Instagram post that these are a limited colorway of Nike’s new and unreleased Lunar Control Vapor 2 golf shoes.

PaulCaseyInstagramThanks for clearing that up, Paul.

GolfWRX members have extremely mixed opinions in our forums about the new shoes and the dual colorway. Make sure to read the full thread here, and to check out more photos of the shoe itself.

These shoes should be declared ‘illegal’ because of the dual sole pattern. Golf shoe outer soles should be plain and uniform and not be designed to provide undue advantage.
Many years ago there was a golf shoe that had internally ‘canted’ insoles that provided better alignment between the foot sole and leg angle so as to better wedge the foot and shoe into the ground. They were banned.
So why not ban these shoes with outer sole patterns designed to do the same thing?!!

I’m calm, you’re obviously agitated. Grow up junior.

This comment is an absolute peach. You’re joking right? You just want to ban anything that is an improvement on the past? What about your 460cc driver? Your iron shafts? Your wedges with more and deeper grooves? Your ball?!

Better go ahead and return every club in your bag if that’s the case. Take back your motocaddy that saved you energy, and your breathable waterproofs that keep you dry without cooking you. Take back your golf shift that flexes as you swing.

Get some perspective dude. Spend less time talking about the past and start thinking about the future of golf.

‘Juniors’ might just be the only thing keeping your club going…
