on

GolfWRX is live this week from the 2017 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club (Ross Course) in Greensboro, North Carolina. The course, which was originally designed by Donald Ross in 1925, will play as a 7,127-yard par-70 for the event.

The Wyndham Championship marks the last event of the season where players can earn FedExCup Points and move into the top-125 to make the Playoffs, which start next week at The Northern Trust. Headlining the field this week is Henrik Stenson, who’s currently ranked No. 9 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Joining him is Kevin Kisner, who held the 54-hole lead at last week’s PGA Championship before finishing T7, along with notables Davis Love III, Jason Dufner, Ernie Els, Harris English, James Hahn, Billy Horschel, Graeme McDowell, Kevin Na and Harold Varner III.

Last year, Si Woo Kim won the Wyndham Championship by five strokes after firing a second-round 60. Kim, however, will not be in the field this year to defend his title; he withdrew from the PGA Championship after one round with a back injury.

I wonder how many copies of the irons and the 3wood Henrik has in his garage?

It’s actually for the opposite reason. Rust makes the surface rougher which increases friction. More friction increases spin.

Also reduces glare. Sometimes the sun can reflect off your wedge right back into your grill. Not when it’s rusted over…

Why not have all irons raw so they can rust up too?

Photos from the 2022 PGA Show

Published

on

GolfWRX was on site for the golf business’s annual winter rite: the PGA Merchandise Show.

While the weather was less than cooperative for demo day, there were no such difficulties inside the Orange County Convention Center. This isn’t to say there weren’t significant figurative headwinds influencing this year’s Show, but those are widely discussed elsewhere. Our duty here was merely to document, and that is what we did to the tune of more than 1,500 photos, below.

Enjoy!

Interesting photos from the Mallorca Open

Published

on

Thanks to our friends at SMS_on_Tour for sending along some shots from last week’s Mallorca Open at Golf Santa Ponsa.

Denmark’s Jeff Winther topped a trio of players at 14 under (and some trouble in a bathroom) to win.

Let’s take a look at some interesting photos!

First up, Ashley Chesters with a Nike Vapor Fly 5-wood in the bag.

Twitter sensation Eddie Pepperell is one of the few pros we’ve spotted with a TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver in play.

Scott Hend’s wedges feature some fantastic stamping.

An original White Hot 2-Ball in the wild. The real OG!

Mitsubishi Kai’li (which officially launched today) spotted here.

Scott Hend with the pink paintfill on his Toulon Palm Beach.

Jazz Janewattanond’s wedge stamping never disappoints (even if often confounds)
