GolfWRX is live this week from the 2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club (South Course), in Akron, Ohio. The course, which first opened in 1929, will play as a 7,400-yard par-70 for the event.
The field, which includes 33 of the top 35 players in the FedExCup Playoff Standings, according to PGATour.com, is headlined by Dustin Johnson, who is ranked No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings and is the event’s defending champion. Also in the field is Jordan Spieth (No. 2 in the OWGR), who’s making his first start since his 2017 Open Championship victory, as well as notables Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Sergio Garcia, Matt Kuchar, Justin Rose, Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, and more of the world’s top golfers.
Last year, D. Johnson shot a pair of 66’s on the weekend to win by one stroke over Scott Piercy. Johnson has won three events so far in 2017, but his winning momentum was halted by a freak back injury at The 2017 Masters.
