Tour Edge Exotics CBX fairways, hybrids and “Iron Woods”
We spotted Tour Edge’s new Exotics CBX fairway woods, hybrids and “Iron Woods” at the 2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
While Tour Edge is yet to officially comment on the fairway woods or its new “iron woods,” the company has provided information on the CBX hybrids, which are already in play on the Champions Tour. Brandt Jobe used a CBX hybrid in route to a T2 finish at the Senior Players Championship in mid-July, and the company says several other Champions Tour players currently have a CBX hybrid in their bag.
The CBX hybrid is unique in that, like drivers, it has a titanium club face. Its multi-material design merges the beta-titanium club face with a hyper-steel body through a process called combo brazing, which the company says helps ensure exact weight tolerances. The hybrid also has a carbon-composite sole to create the higher, more forward center of gravity Tour Edge desired. According to the company, the result is “the lowest-spinning, exceptionally versatile hybrid capable of delivering tour-level distance and performance.”
The CBX hybrid will come stock with either a Project X HZRDUS Black shaft or a Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Silver Dual-Core TiNi. Available lofts are 16, 18 and 20 degrees. They will sell for $249.99 and will begin shipping on September 15.

Ping PLD putters have been a very common site on profesional tours. Pros seem to gravitate toward the PLD line’s custom options and precision milling. We have seen the PLD line expanded over the years, but we haven’t seen too many, if any, large mallets.
This week we spotted a PLD putter in Nate Lashley’s bag that has a similar look to the old Ping Wolverine head shape. This putter is a large mallet with the famous “claws” on the outside and oval center that housed the alignment aid.
Nick’s putter has the PLD logo on the back but also looks like it might have an insert installed on the face. It is hard to tell but at the address picture, it looks like the face is a lighter material than the rest of the putters. The putter is center-shafted and should be face-balanced with a high MOI for stability and forgiveness on mishits. The sole is completely milled and has no markings of name or technologies that might be present in the head. A single white site line is on the top of the putter for alignment.
Nick’s putter is finished off with a chrome steel shaft and a Super Stroke Zenergy Flatso 2.0 grip in black and white.

I like their clubs and they are long but, at $250 I’ll stick with my F6 hybrids.

Generally great clubs, definitely interested in testing them out. Only problem is they don’t hold their value, so they can be had for cheap the next year.

Fugly on the bottom, I don’t get how they can make it look like 20 cent K-Mart designs like this, but the shapes from the top look good, so I’ll give them a hit and see what happens

Think they will do well in the hands of many golfers. Good luck I’ve always been looking for these clubs but can’t find them.
