We spotted new “Matrix Maru” shafts at the 2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Tuesday. According to Matrix, the shafts are built with Gradient Energy Flow technology that is said to produce a “Tour-type” trajectory, faster ball speeds and works to stabilize the mid-section of the shaft to minimize energy loss throughout the swing and into impact.
There are three shaft profiles in the new Maru line: Green, Blue and Red. Matrix breaks down each of the profiles below.
From Matrix: “Soft butt and active tip sections create an incredibly responsive feel without sacrificing control. Easy to hit and easy to launch. Ideal for a wide range of smooth tempo swing speeds.”
From Matrix: “Designed with a stiff butt and responsive tip section to create a firm, yet balanced EI profile. Ideal for stronger players, with a faster release, looking for outstanding stability without sacrificing feel.”
From Matrix: “Stout overall profile with an extra-stiff tip section. Ideal for more aggressive, high-swing speed players that heavily load the shaft, and prefer a firm controlled feel.”
