Jordan Spieth explains where instantly iconic “Go get that!” came from
If most major championship victories have an iconic image, then Jordan Spieth’s point to caddie Michael Greller and “Go get that!” command is that image for the 2017 Open Championship.
Spieth drained an eagle from downtown to stir the Claret Jug’s engraver to his task at the 15th hole.
“Go get that!” Spieth bellowed to Greller.

There’s no doubt it was an awesome, impactful moment. And certainly we allow for players losing their minds in such peak moments of jubilation. Certainly, too, the command didn’t sit well with some (shades of Jason Dufner’s putter drop earlier this year).
So it’s worth asking? Where did the exclamation come from? Fortunately, Spieth answered this question after his round.
“It was kind of like an old-school movie when the caddies used to get it out of the hole when guys holed a chip. When you’re here, the TVs are always playing old Open Championships, and especially at that venue.”
“I don’t know, I saw it, and for whatever reason, I didn’t really know what I was doing at that point. I looked over at Michael and he was in shock, too, and I just said, ‘Pick that ball up out of the hole.’ And he didn’t really know what I was saying at first.”
So there’s the explanation, folks. And Greller wasn’t bothered by it, saying he “happily” retrieved Spieth’s Titleist from the hole.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.
For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- btyh: “Holy offset.”
- Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
- bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing
As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.
Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.
What happens when 4 #PGATOUR pros take a day off?
Luckily, the cameras were rolling.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

Looked rather arrogant to me . But I guess respect for others has slowly gone by the wayside. And I agree if bubba had done this there would be complete uproar on the media circus .

So I thought that a caddie had to be instructed to get the ball from the hole…or it was a rules violation. But I confess I’m not a rules aficionado. At any rate the way I saw it, was that Spieth was trying to contain his emotions and wanted to walk it off a little. I mean the guy had to have enough adrenaline flowing to jump start Arlington Cemetery! He still had 3 holes to play and at that point a 1 stroke lead I believe. As for the Bubba Watson statement: Fans are aware of the Player/Caddie dynamic that goes back as far as Nicklaus and Angel (Angelo Arge) or father, If Phil had said that to Bones it would have been fine. I f Tiger had said that to Steve Williams it may have created drama! But it’s based on the perception of the Player/Caddie dynamic. Just ask Skip Bales (no don’t ask Skip Bales) …:-)

Wow – the standards for “iconic” have fallen just a bit. At least you have chosen a phrase that rarely gets spoken in day to day life … something truly “iconic”

Agreed. Didn’t feel iconic or original at all. The legends of old had a bit more charisma and stage presence. Like TW or not, dude sent chills on everyone when he made his clutch shots/putts. Every soul was either applauding, scared, intimidated or straight mesmerized.

I can guarantee Geller had no issue with that command. I’m sure he was more than happy to do it, he knows his bank account is about to get a huge deposit.

And that right there folks is what’s wrong with people. Manners, respect, decency, common coutesy. These all take a back seat to money these days and it’s only going to get worse. Gordon Gekko would love it!
What’s more, there’s a massive double standard here. If Bubba Watson did this to his caddie, the whole golfing world would be in uproar over it but because it’s Spieth, there’s a perfectly good (ie LAME) explanation.

Gordon Gekko??? Strange and tangential reference.

He’s referring to Gekko’s iconic (correct use of the word) line, “greed is good!”
