GolfWRX is live from the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills in Hartford, Wisconsin. The course, which opened in 2006 and has hosted the 2011 U.S. Amateur and the 2008 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links, will play as a par-72 measuring 7,693 yards for this week’s event.

Dustin Johnson heads into the season’s second major championship as the No. 1-ranked player in the Official World Golf Rankings, and as the defending U.S. Open champion. He’s yet to arrive at Erin Hills, however, as his fiancé Paulina Gretzky is expected to give birth to the couple’s second child today.

Johnson’s 2016 victory at Oakmont marked the first major win of his career, and he accomplished the feat despite an overhanging rules controversy throughout the back-nine of his final round. The USGA has since added a local rule that removes a penalty for accidental ball movement on the greens.

At this moment, Johnson is joined in the field by 59 of the top-60 ranked golfers in the world. Ryan Moore is going to miss the event with a shoulder injury, while Phil Mickelson is hoping to make his Thursday afternoon tee time despite his decision to attend his daughter’s graduation ceremony in San Diego on the same day. He’s going to push the speed limits of his private jet, but he might need a weather delay to make his tee time.

Other notables in the field include the 2015 U.S. Open champion Jordan Spieth, the 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia and four-time major champion Rory McIlroy, who’s currently ranked No. 2 in the OWGR.
