Update (With Photos): Tiger Woods’ car had fresh damage at time of DUI arrest
Update: 5:45 p.m. on 5/31/17
TMZ Sports has released photos of Tiger Woods’ 2015 Mercedes at the scene of his Monday morning arrest. Scroll through the gallery below to see all of the photos.
Update: 10:06 a.m. on 5/31/17.
According to a second police report obtained by TMZ Sports, Tiger Woods’ vehicle had “fresh damage” at the time of his DUI arrest. The report says that “both [driver] side tires were flat” and there was “minor damage to both respective rims.”
“There was also minor damage to the front [driver] side bumper and rear bumper, and the passenger rear tail light appeared to be out,” according to the report.
The new report also adds that Woods said he was “on his way down to Orange County” when questioned by Reporting Officer Christopher Fandrey. Woods was arrested in Florida, but he stated that he was coming from Los Angeles, California. He was found asleep at the wheel with his car pointed south on the shoulder of the road.
“It should be noted that Orange County California is to the south of [Los Angeles],” Officer Fandrey noted in the report.
Read the full second report here.
Update: 11:10 a.m. on 5/30/17.
According a police report obtained by TMZ Sports from the Jupiter Police Department, Tiger Woods was found asleep at the wheel of a black Mercedes at 2:03 a.m. on Monday morning in Jupiter, Florida. The report said Woods had “extremely slow and slurred speech” and that he “takes several prescription medications.” In-depth observations in the report reveal Woods failed a field sobriety test.
According to the report, “Woods stated that he was coming from [Los Angeles] California from golfing. Woods stated that he did not know where he was. Woods had changed his story of where he was going and where he was coming from. Woods asked how far from his house he was. It should be noted that Woods was heading south bound away from Hobe Sound. Takes several prescriptions.”
The results of a breathalyzer test taken at 4:28 a.m. and 4:31 a.m. show that Woods blew “.000,” according to the report, supporting the statement released by Woods on Monday night that “alcohol was not involved.” Four drugs were also listed in the report, including Solarex, Vicodin, Torix and Vioxx; it was noted that Vioxx was not taken this year.
Below are screenshots from the report. Click to enlarge.
Update: 8:15 p.m. on 5/29/17.
Tiger Woods says “alcohol was not involved” in his Monday morning DUI arrest, but was “an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications,” according to a statement that surfaced on Monday evening.
Here is the full statement, as per Jason Sobel’s Twitter account:
Statement from Tiger Woods: pic.twitter.com/XzlESOGOxK
— Jason Sobel (@JasonSobelESPN) May 29, 2017
——–
Tiger Woods was arrested and charged with DUI early Monday morning in Jupiter, Fla. Woods, who lives on Jupiter Island, was arrested around 3 a.m. He was booked at 7:18 a.m. EST at the Palm Beach County Jail and released on his own recognizance.
Last Wednesday, Woods posted on his blog that he was “unequivocally” wants to play professional golf again following his spinal fusion surgery in April. He wrote that he hasn’t “felt this good in years.” He did not set a time table for return to professional golf, but said he “can’t twist for another 2.5-3 months.”
Woods last played a professional event in February in Dubai, where he withdrew after a first-round 77 with back spasms.

he has the look of someone who mixed pain meds with ambien and went sleep walking. there are lots of stories of people getting in their car and driving. not excusing him, but i understand that it can happen and he’s certainly accepted all responsibility so far. What else do you people want from the guy?

Give him a break….he’s recovering from surgery.
Anyone who has ever been through that hell
knows the hell of pain meds with side effects. Sleepwalking or out of body experience are common ones. Usually side effects are worse than the surgery itself. The cops are lucky he didn’t he didn’t have a medical emergency or worse. Get better Tiger, we are all pulling for you.

Jun 1, 2017 at 7:55 am
Yea… give him a break! That is right. We should all lets everyone drive under the influence. Sure… that is a great idea. Then when they kill your child or love one you will think about what you just said. Comments like this make me wonder about the mental capacity of some people. Think about what you are saying. It is ok to drive a 4,000 pound car when you cant keep it on the road because your wasted??? Really?
Travis
Jun 2, 2017 at 8:57 am
No, it’s not okay to drive while you’re wasted. However, there’s a critical difference in driving drunk and driving under the influence of prescription medicine, especially when it wasn’t an overdose and he was taking the exact amount prescribed. That difference is INTENTION.
People at a bar who drink way too much, and stay way longer than they should, they are purposely intoxicating their body and being reckless in their decision. However, Tiger had an adverse reaction by taking the correct amount of prescribed meds, and it led to him having basically a blackout moment.
I’m not saying don’t take him off the road, because he clearly could have endangered someone’s life. However, I also think we need to give him a break. It wasn’t exactly his fault…
JThunder
Jun 3, 2017 at 5:11 pm
Tiger has had pain WAY long enough to know what can happen when taking pain meds. He’s not a child, no matter how often he behaves like one. He knows better. He also – unlike 99% of the population – has more than enough money to be driven wherever he needs to go. There is no reason for an almost-billionaire to be getting behind the wheel on pain medication. Ridiculous.
Intent – or lack thereof – will not undo any damage he inflicts.
I don’t think anyone is suggesting the death penalty.

I don’t really see a fall from grace here as some seem to want to. He takes medicines, normally without issues. Perhaps he accidentally took one medicine double (I have). This time he drives in his car and suddenly feels really bad. Pulls over at earliest opportunity (even using turn signal) and maybe leans back, closes his eyes thinking “pwooah, I feel like cr*p”! Dozes off. Police find him.

Definition of sober – not affected by alcohol; not drunk
Rich
Jun 3, 2017 at 6:34 am
Semantics. While the dictionary meaning of sober is not affected by alcohol; not drunk, it is used in a much broader fashion these days when it comes to be people being intoxicated, or not, with illegal drugs as well. You knew what he meant and are just nitpicking for the sake of it.

I guess I’ll play devil’s advocate. If Tiger complied with the officer’s requests, told them he was having a reaction to prescribed medication, and blew 000’s to confirm no alcohol….why didn’t the cops take a “help first” attitude and get him to a hospital for medical attention first? Why the need to jail and charge him immediately? It could have been an accidentally overdose. He pulled his car off the road. What else are you supposed to do in that situation if you didn’t know something was about to happen? The illegal parking citation suggests the cops are just being ruthless at that point.

Agreed…after the zero’s they should’ve been concerned about a medical emergency. His glucose level could have been responsible for the exact same effects.
No apologies here, Been in a similar boat. SEVEN orthopaedic surgeries after 9/11. I can tell straight up that you might need 4 or 5 of whatever pain meds during the pre-surgery pain and maybe the first week or two of rehab and you won’t even get a hint of a buzz….but once THAT pain is gone, Three could very well whack you out….just sayin…

I actually don’t care about some pathetic argument about who is better, but find it funny why someone’s off field behaviour has anything to do with an argument about what both achieved on the golf course.

Savoury Pudding is unAmerican – as evidenced by the communist spelling! Of course, any American who achieves something in sports, entertainment or business has carte blanche to behave exactly however they choose in all other walks of life. And still be applauded for their “achievements”. Who cares if Tiger is an awful person – look at what he used to be able to do with a 1.68″ dimpled ball! Role model! Hero! He moves the needle! Follow his path to greatness and god status.

Don’t put words in my mouth and exaggerate. Muppet 1 was trying to suggest to Muppet 2 that this now confirms that Jack is a better player than Tiger. I merely questioned the logic behind such a simple argument. At no stage did I ever state that is OK to be a hopeless human being off the golf course provided you can play well. You would have loved me to say something like that, but sadly for you, I didn’t.

CORRECTION GREATEST GOLFER OF HIS TIME>>>a time when there was NO MORE then 25 golfers in the whole world that could keep up with him…..Tiger was the GREATEST GOLFER OF HIS TIME, a time when there was 100 golfers in the world who could keep up with him…and TODAY there are 250 golfers in the world that can keep up with Jack or Tiger….ask Dustin. Jordan, Bubba, Sergio how hard it is to win a tournament these days……Jack never faced even 10 guys in a single tournament with skills as fine as his, but the guys now face 25 to 50 guys each week with those skills…

Tiger has brought on every single adversity in his life upon himself. He was a great golfer, but just a human being. Hopefully he will get help if he needs it. I could care less about him as a golfer, he has been a non-factor for years. But, he is still a father with children. They are the most important part of his story moving forward.

You beat me to this, Adam…Not condoning this at all, only saying that if he is on any class 3 narcotic for pain, alcohol consumption is going to be magnified. There’s a reason on the side of pill bottles, it says not to operate machinery while consuming, especially with alcohol…

I’d be very concerned about opiate dependency at this point. I’m a pharmacist, and I can tell you how easy it is to slide into a pattern of abuse.

If he’s doing stuff in his own home – I could agree. When he is a clear danger to other people, then I think it’s fair to judge. Hardly the first time he’s taken pain medication, and hardly a fellow who can’t afford a cab fare. (Or purchase a limo fleet, etc)…

Now for final Jepordy, and the answer is
“I am sorry I let my fans down, I hope we can all put this behind us and move on. I will like to say thank you to my sponsors and hope they give me chance to redeem myself”
And the answer is ” Every rich celebrity busted for drunk driving or doing something stupid hoping to keep their sponsors money flowing and their fans bamboozled “

Do? For what? He’s didn’t do anything, didn’t kill anyone and alcohol was not even involved. He got a DUI which is not the same as a DWI. And its not like he plowed through a field of small children killing them.

John Daly was never arrested for a DUI. So no, this is not the same as JD. JD never was arrested for putting innocent lives in danger.

Cops, firemen, EMT’s, nurses, waitresses and bartenders getting off work, shift workers, cab drivers. Just a few “innocent” folks who deserve safe roads at 3 a.m.

So, this is how I started my day… Grab my morning coffee. Click on Golfwrx. See mug shot. Read heading. Immediately laugh so hard that I think a little pee came out. No need to read the rest of the article. Bask in the feeling that yep, my life is going pretty well. What ever else happens, this is going to be a good day. Thanks a bunch, Tiger.

Not sure you’re using this word correctly:
mis·giv·ing
noun
plural noun: misgivings
a feeling of doubt or apprehension about the outcome or consequences of something.
I have no feeling of doubt that he got arrested today.

I think what amazes me the most is you have a guy who can more than afford a “driver” to take him places and make sure he gets home safe while he has a good time with his buddies. This could be the last nail in the coffin.

Alcohol was not involved and he was not “out with his buddies”.

Whether alcohol was involved or not is irrelevant, which is why DUI covers more than alcohol.

MattyH
May 30, 2017 at 12:07 am
Um, no one has criticized John Daly’s mistakes more harshly because, hello??? It’s John Daly… He has been rocking a mullet on tour since 1987. 30 years. He and Dunlop did a line of putters some years ago aptly named (wait for it…) the REDNECK Series. Exceptional putters, BTW. This is who big John is. He is flawed by nature and it’s endearing. I’d have been more surprized if he had never run into problems with substances or the law. Tiger, on the other hand was engineered via marketing and the media to be virtually super human, infallible. I can’t watch enough reruns of his play from ’97 to ’07. That swing, that creativity, I loved it. But he was never in my mind a player for the people, of the people. He was a player for and of himself. His sense that all of his antics were perfectly acceptable, until he got caught, that is. Watch his press conference apologies on youtube. He’s apologizing not for what he did but that he got caught. Tiger’s is a fall from grace so spectacular that it often defies belief. Some may call this Tiger-hating but there is a nameless joy that some people experience when something like this happens. When so much is invested in hiding ones’ true self and then the world gets to see what’s really behind the veneer. These events, and others, show us Tiger’s true self, not the lie that was marketed to us. And you know this truth is his humiliation. John Daly has never appeared to deny who and what he really is. And that is why he is not so harshly criticized and never will be. And people will always love him for it.
