FTF: Who is the 3rd-greatest golfer of all time?

Published

on

The GolfWRX Forums exist so golfers have access to the latest equipment releases, hottest discussions, real equipment reviews, best instruction, new technologies and everything golf you can imagine. So if you love golf, the GolfWRX forums are your sanctuary.

In the From the Forums weekly feature, we bring you the hottest, most buzz-worthy topics from our forums for your convenience. I’ll be your trusty tour guide to navigate the latest buzz. Here’s a peek behind the curtain into golf’s sanctuary.

Lead tape magic…or not?

LT-75IN-HD-01

WRXer L3fty writes about his stripeshow peformance at the range after putting lead tape on his irons. Placebo effect, magic of the small sample size, or has he found something that works, he wonders. See if WRXers have had similar experiences and what they have to say. Check out the thread.

Favorite random golf accessory?

snow-driveway-markers-600

Here’s a good thread: Ask some of the most enthusiastic equipment enthusiasts what their favorite non-golf ball, non-club, non-clothing piece of golf gear is, and why, as pinestreetgolf does in this thread. From stinky towels to training aids, to a beat up scorecard holder, the replies have it all. Check out the thread.

Third-best golfer ever?

Sam_Snead_1967

Outside of the Tiger vs. Jack debate, there’s another very interesting question to ask in an effort to power rank the finest players the game has seen. But as we virtually all agree that some combination of Woods-Nicklaus top the list, it begs the question: Who is No. 3? Snead? Hogan? Palmer? Jones? See the debate in this thread.

Results don’t match the quality of the swing

Charles-Howell-III

Best should probably read “best” in this thread, but it’s an interesting question. We know the Jim Furyk’s of the world who have gotten great results with “bad” golf swings. But who fits the bill at the opposite end of the spectrum: Beautiful swings that haven’t gotten the job done in a big way? See the thread.

The triumphant return of The Hammer!

jack-hammer-boom-drive

The greatest product in golf history is back. Jack Hamm unveiled the 2017 edition of The Hammer, the driver that (as far as we know) has never seen a sub-400-yard drive since product launch. Click through for the latest Hammer infomercial and see what praise WRXers are heaping on this non-conforming marvel of R&D. See the thread.

Actually, subsequent analysis of Moe’s swing has shown that he wasn’t doing what he thought he was doing, so not, I will not second what Moe said.

So, that means you are way too old to be on here commenting on things. Why don’t you have some respect for yourself and stop with this nonsense ranting

Forum Thread of the Day: “Are 919 forged irons really that good?”

Published

on

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from 9ironiscash who asked fellow members what they thought about Mizuno’s 919 forged ironsOur members dish out their experiences gaming the irons, with the majority of WRXers answering with a resounding yes to 9ironiscash’s original question.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire thread and have your say at the link below.

  • Gmack1973: “I think the 919 forged are great irons. I play to a handicap of 4 and think I’m not a bad ball striker. I had the tours 6-pw, and they were great but a bit unforgiving if you don’t get them out the middle. I now have 919 forged 4 – PW and couldnt be happier. They have the Nippon Modus 120 stiff shafts.”
  • Gofguy224: “They are great irons! Had them for about a month and I’ve already shot 3 of my lowest scores ever! Very forgiving and they feel buttery soft
  • chjyner: “The whole 919 range is probably the best on the market “
  • PowerCobra98: “I like them. Moved from Apex 19’s into 919 Forged. I’ll likely be looking at a set of MP20 HMB’s though.”

Forum Thread of the Day: “Your last ever set of irons?”

Published

on

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from Nickc who asks fellow WRXers what they would choose if their next set of irons were the last clubs they could use. Some of our members mention a range of different irons which they would love to splash out on, while others choose between a set of clubs already in their possession.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • cfasucks: “If I had only 1 set to play with for the rest of my life it would probably be my 845s. They are great feeling and forgiving when I’m not at the top of my game, and they’re built like tanks.”
  • kekoa: “At this point, I’d have to choose Seven MB’s. At a price tag of about $4,000 4-PW I wouldn’t be able to afford another set.”
  • bodhi555: “That would be my VR Pros, as they do everything I need an iron to do. Feel awesome, let me get away with not being precisely on the centre of the face, look great and seem to go as far as some distance irons I’ve tried.”
  • Lumberjack627: “Think I’m going to get 790s, and that would be it for me.”

Forum Thread of the Day: “Scotty Cameron Albertsons Boise Open putter covers”

Published

on

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day showcases Scotty Cameron’s Albertsons Boise Open putter covers. The vibrant french fries themed covers have been receiving plenty of love from our members in our forums, with one WRXer calling the new additions their “favorite headcover in a long time.”

Here are a few posts from the thread but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say on the covers at the link below.

  • jschwarb: “Gave up french fries many months ago … this cover makes me happy and sad. I’ll probably grab one for my T22 Fastback.”
  • manVSgolf: “This is my favorite headcover in a long time. Can’t wait to receive mine. Orders are still available for Club Cameron members.”
  • chrisokeefe12: “Those are so sick would love to get my hands on one of those.”
