Clement: Putting Secrets and a Hot New Putter Grip

6

In this video, I stress the importance of using the weight of the arms and putter to create a consistent putting stroke both in terms of distance control and direction. I also offer visualization techniques that will help you picture how the ball will roll into the hole for more consistent green reading.

There’s an important piece of new golf equipment in this video, too. I showcase a putting grip that has made me a believer called Forward Golf Grips.

  1. Okay, Shawn, you say that the arm-putter ‘unit’ hangs down, via gravity, from shoulders and the putter handle is in the palm of the lead hand. Now please explain how the putter shaft lie angle is determined?
I ask because pro golfers apparently prefer a shaft lie angle between 60 to 70 degree lie angles while your approach suggests the ‘gravity-hanging’ lie angle might be somewhere between 70 to the max of 80 degrees.
IOW, how do you determine shaft lie angle with your approach to putting mechanics… particularly since putter head weights seem to be increasing? Thanks.

  2. I tried it and found it worked incredibly well. I have always been guilty oof gripping my putter too tightly. If I use this concept, even if it may not be a totally “passive”, it certainly makes my putting stroke smoother and more reliable.

  3. So many issues with this video. The only grip out there worth mentioning? No reason to be rude and Garsen brought a palm grip concept to market 2 years back. Men don’t toss balls underhand to one another here in ‘merica. That fact that you’d consider doing that for weeks on end is even scarier. I’m pretty sure gravity was not a god given gift and I know for sure it is not a god given ability you personally received from him. How does poor material such as this even make it to the site? Turrible.

      • Who said I had trouble putting? Good looking out tho. No spelling issues here, thanks! Again tho, thank you for your uplifting voice of common sense & reason. There wasn’t much else to take from this video & if u thought there was, obviously your issues greatly outweigh mine. Get your gravity on!
