Brittney Horschel reveals alcoholism, added significance of husband’s win
While this story lands in Buzzroll due to its social media sourcity, we’re not suggesting there’s anything “light” about the substance.
Billy Horschel’s playoff victory over Jason Day at the AT&T Byron Nelson was particularly poignant. This was obvious to anyone tuned in for the dramatic conclusion. A return to the winner’s circle after a run of bad form, on the heels of a Putter Throwgate, and the first such result since 2014—all reasons for a little extra jubilation.
However, Brittany Horschel, Billy’s wife since 2010, tweeted the following note Monday afternoon. And it’s more than sufficient to say, the Horschels have multiple reasons to celebrate.
Thus, not that we were entitled to, but we know a little about what Billy Horschel meant when he said
“Life gets in the way sometimes. I’m not able to talk about it right now. But it’s just a lot of stuff happened in the last year and this is just – this is nice.”
Horschel was all class in leaving the decision up to his wife to share her story. And his willingness to step up for his family and reluctance to make excuses during a run of poor form is eminently commendable, as well.
It’s no surprise, then, that the win, which coincided with a year of his wife’s sobriety, and the conclusion of a dark period in his family’s life, resonated so deeply with the Florida Gator.
The Horschels have two daughters: Skylar, 2, and Colbie, who was born April 12.
The win was his first since the 2014 Tour Championship.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.
For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- btyh: “Holy offset.”
- Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
- bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing
As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.
Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.
What happens when 4 #PGATOUR pros take a day off?
Luckily, the cameras were rolling.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

Congratulations Mrs. Horschel and Billy. Addiction is not an easy road to travel. As someone who has dealt with addiction to numerous substances, I know that it is not an easy road for the addict or their loved ones. I applaud your sobriety Brittney and your commitment Billy. Perseverance and a strong support system are the keys to long lasting sobriety. And as an added bonus I am avid and passionate golfer, this made me cry.
