Of course, Craftsman’s excellent crafts aren’t limited to driver headcovers, as they make covers for every club in the bag, as well as ball markers, pouches, and Sunday bags. They’re also ready, willing, and able to make you a custom headcover.

So, how do you get in on the contest?

Go to www.craftsmangolf.com and pick your favorite headcover. Then, in a post in the thread, include the following:

  • A screenshot of your favorite Craftsman headcover design.
  • Which headcover design you would like to win.

That’s it. Winners selected at random. Good luck!

Today from the Forums: “Results from testing all of Ping’s current iron lineup”

Published

on

Today from the Forums shines the light on Ping irons after WRXer GolfMonster09 tested all of the brand’s current irons and shared his results with our members. Per GolfMonster09, the experiment went as follows:

“All 7 irons at standard lofts, KBS Tour S, same length, same Bridgestone Tour B XS balls, same SkyTrak setting tested indoors on a premium mat. Hit 5 balls with each iron, switched to the next head, rotated through 3 cycles (15 shots with each setup).”

And here were the very insightful results…

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • BCULAW: “Thanks for doing this. Very cool to see the comparison. Ping seems to have really hit a home run with the i210. They really have something for everyone, though.”
  • CyFan: “Nice comparison. Surprised at the variances, maybe it is more than just marketing.”
  • ldh692002: “IBlade all day!!! Great numbers all around. If you got the money go blueprint, but I’d say numbers alone iBlade is your go-to.”
  • mahbles: “This is such a cool post. The way I’m interpreting the numbers, and please correct me if I’m wrong, is that for golfers of various ages and abilities, there’s a club for everyone within the Ping spectrum. I love the feel of the G410; I love the looks of the i500, my ego may not let me game the G710 and I would be embarrassing myself with the i210, iblade or blueprint. From a fitting perspective, the G410 is what I should be using; I was told I could get away with the i500, but it’s not as forgiving as the G410. Thanks for putting this together, very insightful!”

Today from the Forums: “Mizuno ST200G – Wow”

Published

on

Today from the Forums, we take a look at WRX member, wolvverine’s recent experience when going for a driver fitting and how he has been blown away by the Mizuno ST200G. Wolvverine tried out the Mavrik Sub Zero, TS3, and Cobra Speedzone and gave his informative feedback on each in the thread, but when it came to the ST200G, wolvverine gave this glowing write-up:

“Last thing I tried was the Mizuno ST200G with the Fuji Atmos 6x and I assumed it would perform a lot like the TS3 and while it did in the looks and sound department it was also a ballspeed monster. 160, 161, 160 on my first 3 swings. I was sitting 260-265 carry pretty much all day and flew it over 270 pretty much every time with 2300 spin. I was skeptical about a $500 Mizuno driver, but the results were incredible. It, of course, had the same issue as all of the low spin drivers on the market where high toe shots are very low spinning but you can’t blame the club for that, and the ones that were high toe were nowhere near as wild as SIM.

I ended up going with the Mizuno which btw do free shaft and grip upgrades, and you also get a case of their new balls for free with the purchase. For those on the fence about the Mizuno go out and hit it.”

Our members have been discussing the feedback and sharing their thoughts in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • bdmiller61: “So glad to hear this. I currently play the ST190G with Atmos Black 6x and thought it would stay in my bag for quite a few years…until the 200g came out. After chatting with a Mizuno rep about it, I ordered it without even trying it. ST200G with Ventus Black 7x on the way. Can’t wait to hit it.”
  • Man_O_War: “The cobra SZ is amazing.”
  • Aucaveman: “I tested and got fit for the 200 with Atmos black 7s. Found a 190 with that shaft along with a 190 3 wood with the same shaft. I saved $200 and got the 3wood for free essentially. I couldn’t justify the extra cash. Both are fantastic! I came from an m1, and while the m1 may be a touch longer overall, I could still hit it off the plane left and right at times. the 190 is by far the best driver I’ve ever had in the bag.”

Today from the Forums: “4-hybrid for high swing-speed golfers. What works?”

Published

on

Today from the Forums comes a discussion created by Z1ggy16 on the effectiveness of 4-hybrids for high swing-speed golfers, asking fellow members what has and hasn’t worked for them.

Per Z1ggy16:

“Thinking about giving a 4h a go to help get my approaches onto greens in the 200-210 yard range a little more height and spin, plus some more forgiveness on the bad hits.

Driver around 110 or so and I’m in modus 120 shafts, so I’m probably looking for something around 100g. Right now I’m thinking Tensei pro-white 100x or tz5, possibly straight in (soft stepped). Ideally stiffer tipped softer mid set ups.

What set ups have you gone with and what has or hasn’t worked, and why?”

Our members have been sharing their thoughts and experiences on the subject.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Fouler: “I got a 4 hybrid because my irons didn’t offer a 4 iron (CB-2008). Went with the M6 with Aldila Rogue Black 85 and it does exactly what you’re looking for. 200-210 with enough height and stopping power. Would recommend. Likely have to find used or in-store as I believe you can’t order them off T-Mades site right now.”
  • exOdus: “SS about the same as OP. I had a 4h for awhile and liked it. However, I had to abandon it because I frequently had to use it on a couple of long par 3s with elevated tees on my home course. It would get up too high, and the wind would wreak havoc. Great off the deck, especially from the rough.”
  • chinaski: “I’m 105-108mph. I typically play a 4H or DI depending on course. I definitely prefer a 4i or 23? DI off the tee, especially for a par 3. Anywhere past the tee a hybrid is much more useful. They can be a great tool around the green, too. If I do drop the 4h for an iron, I will usually drop the 5w for a 3h.”
  • bryanwmillburn: “I’d highly recommend trying a 4H before buying. I went into the store last week with all intents on buying a 4H to replace my 4 iron. Walked out with a U510 4 iron instead. So much more consistent for me and I couldn’t stand seeing that much loft on a hybrid. Definitely try before you buy!”
  • juggernaut0609: “I am the slightly faster than OP & carry a Callaway xhot 4h with matrix white tie altus shaft in bag. Perfect club for it. Love it.”
