An oldie but good (and still active), this one. Who doesn’t love a custom pair of MyJoys? This thread was originally started a couple of years ago, but it features six pages of superlative MyJoy creations. And really, it should feature a few more.

Check out the MyJoy extravaganza, and add your own examples.

The hardest course you’ve ever played?

The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island

Apologies if we’ve travelled this path before in FTF, but this thread is brand new and blowing up. Perhaps more surprising, it only took two replies to get to “Bethpage Black from the tips.” But really, it’s an awesome rundown of some truly formidable courses.

Check out the thread and add your most fearsome 18-hole adversary.

Best forged irons for a $300 budget

mizuno mp-64

Raferalston (presumably not the Rucker Park legend/former NBAer, unless he’s really fallen on hard times) has $300 to spend on a set of forged irons. Obviously, he’s looking in the used iron space.

See what WRXers think the best blades you can pick up on the cheap are.

The thread.

Is the 40-degree wedge coming?

Mizuno MP-T4 wedge - 50*

Not to sound like a card-carrying member of the tin-foil hat brigade, but in an environment of strengthening lofts and expanding wedge options, we could see the following: 40-degree pitching wedges, creating the need for a three-wedge setup just to cover gaps.

Cornwall1888 begs the question in this thread.

Don’t roll back the ball…

TaylorMade_M2_Fairway_Wood_face

…get rid of the driver(!) So says, TomLikesGolf. Here’s his bold suggestion: In order to player certain shorter, say “legacy,” courses of the world (Myopia Hunt, etc), don’t let players hit anything with lower loft than a 14-degree 3-wood.

And while that may sound quite insane, the idea of limited-flight balls, as recently discussed by the USGA’s Mike Davis, may be only a standard deviation less.

What do you think about Tom’s idea? Want to see what other WRXers said? See the thread.

For me playing any course with narrow house lined fairways is the hardest courses I ever play….just stretch that narrow house lined course to more then 6300 yards and I go from a 15 handicap to a 20 or more right now.

Ko’olau, in Hawaii, island of Oahu to be exact. That course was and is an absolute beast!! First couple’a holes and one thinks this isn’t so bad…………….then the carnival ride begins and you
better hang on for dear life and hope you can keep a score in double digits.

Why Ludvig Aberg is my new favorite player – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing one of the new sensations in the world of golf – Ludvig Aberg. The 24-year-old finished solo second at the Masters a couple of weeks ago, and gained many plaudits, including from several WRXers.

One member, RoyalMustang, took to the forums to explain why Aberg is now their favorite player, saying:

“I loved the way the Ludvig was out there, having a great time, not taking himself or the situation too seriously. Even after the double at 11, he was like “well, that’s golf!” Loose and relaxed: that’s the way to play. It’s obvious he loves what he’s doing, he loves the big moments, and he loves being a part of it all.

Arnold Palmer was viewed that way. Just like Brooks Robinson was forever viewed as not just a great baseball player, but a great human being and friend to Baltimore.”

And our members have been reacting and sharing their positive takes on the young Swede.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • redfirebird08: “Ludvig has a great attitude, a great smile, and a great golf swing.”
  • otto6457: “I’m very lucky to have talked with Ludde several times at the Rawls Course at Texas Tech.  He’s a truly nice guy and very friendly.  Always said hello when we passed each other in the club house and was always smiling. Watching him hit balls on the range was a joy.  He has “that sound” and trajectory to die for.  There were many times he was out on the range in 30+ mph winds just hitting the most beautiful shots that just seemed to ignore the wind.  World class ball striker. And yes……..I am a fan boy.”
  • konklifer: “I like him. In an era of endless waggles and laboring, his swing and pace of play are a joy to watch.
