Paige Spiranac absolutely posterizes Twitter troll

Published

on

Professional golfer and social media extraordinaire Paige Spiranac made an appearance on the Golf Channel’s “The Golf Fix” hosted by Michael Breed on Monday, where she discussed specialty shots, the golf swing and stretching routines among other things.

The Golf Fix’s Twitter account promoted the show with multiple tweets, prompting a Twitter troll to make the following comment (the original Tweet has since been deleted along with the user’s Twitter page).

“Looks like the Golf Channel is really pushing Paige Spiranac. What is she teaching? How to take a selfie?”

Spiranac then took the high ground, while simultaneously putting said troll on a poster.

Thanks for the lesson on how to take selfies… and how to annihilate haters.

Made me laugh. You go girl.

The vitriol that she gets from men is curious to me. Yeah, she’s hot. Yeah, she missed a cut. So what? Enjoy the view, fellas.

Crazy idea, lets focus on the ladies with actual talent on the big stage… This is almost at the level of giving the 3rd or 4th player on a highschool an invite to a Major. I’m sure she will get on the cover of GD quicker then those who deserve it about 1000% more! Good for you dirty old guys fantasizing, guud fur uu’s!

I don’t think she is supposed to be saving golf. To my knowledge golf is doing fine. Most of us could do much better without your Neanderthal comments. What are you 12 years old?

The lady is trying to make a living in golf. Get off your high horses, your not paying her salary. She is probably a much better golfer than 90% of the people putting her down. Did she Pi** in your cornflakes? She is a Pro, and you are NOT.

Pretty much the whole story, right there. And yet, the 12-handicap internet swing theorists and experts yammer on.

I think most people don’t hold a gruge against Paige, but the Golf media that pushes female golf personalites down our throats not based on their golf abilities, but how they look in tight fitting clothing.

It is funny how much hate people have in here about her. She might not be a great golfer, but I didn’t know you need to be a great golfer to be able to teach golf, alot of that are talent that you are either born with or without. So all of your local pros who you take lessons from are all competing on the tour? Just because she is good looking and gets alot of face time doesn’t mean she has no substance. Honestly I rather look at her than the none sense let me make a buck Sean Foley tips for golf. The way she handles the loser shows you that she is more than just a pretty face. Some of your comments are pretty ignorant.

automatic fail for not addressing the point people are making and instead focusing on a use of a single word, highly educated.

“She might not be a great golfer, but I didn’t know you need to be a great golfer to be able to teach golf…”

You don’t. With rare exceptions (Snead and Toski come immediately to mind, and Jack Grout was good enough to make some money playing tournaments), teachers have _not_ been exceptionally good players.

And you’re right about Foley. I don’t doubt that he’s a good guy just trying to make a living, but he’s a perfect example of the kind of teacher who can say lots of words about the swing, who finds a different vocabulary and some contrarian theories, a few players with talent do well regardless of what he’s teaching them, and people have the impression of a well-spoken teacher who knows what he’s talking about. Mostly it’s a matter of describing things that happen in the swing — or rather, _some_ swings — without identifying what really matters, unfortunately.

Yeah. Not sure I would say she “anhilated” the troll. But good for her.

The troll does raise a valid point though. She’s a good golfer. But she’s not great. So why is she getting so much press? Because she’s blonde and pretty. Just like Blair O’Neal.

Let’s just call a spade a spade. She’s hot. Hence, the air time.

Post your picture and allow me to roast you?

    • Mike

      Feb 15, 2017 at 10:25 am

The troll chickened out and deleted its account, so she quite literally annihilated it.

    • Jack

      Feb 15, 2017 at 9:35 pm

She didn’t annihilate but she took the high road. Annihilation doesn’t always look good for public figures. Good move by her. She’s also one of the most successful pioneers of the social movement. I mean, if she was just a regular golfer she would not be making much money at all. She’s doing well for herself I think. What’s wrong with how she is handling herself? People will look back in the future and think she is so old fashioned. Times change.

Posterize!? Let’s not be so hyperbolic. She handled him well and didn’t stoop to his level. Let’s not for a second compare that to one of the most exciting and athletic plays in sports. She did more the equivalent of a nice little 12 foot jumper.

Just what I was going to say — no “annihiliation” or “posterizing” here, just a nice moment of not responding in kind (or worse).

But then, nearly 100% of the time the term is used in basketball it’s not warranted. More often than not it’s used to describe a dunk on a defender who had no chance to begin with, usually a guy who’s the last line of defense on a fast break or after the scorer has beaten his own man (or his own man has been picked), in almost every case somebody who was at a big disadvantage and out of position. Hardly any of the breathless “X posterizes Y” stories on various websites are ever actually “posterizing” in the truest sense.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
