Tiger tells Colbert he spent “8 hours a day” playing Call of Duty

Published

on

Tiger Woods hasn’t lost his edge, or his sense of humor.

A day after telling Charlie Rose “I’ve accepted I’m going to get more (than 18 major championships),” Woods reaffirmed his commitment to return to professional golf at the Hero World Challenge in December… and his dedication to the video game Call of Duty while he rehabbed from his two back surgeries.

“I applied MY same intensity in my craft, MY focus, to Call of Duty,” Woods said. “I would spend eight hours a day (playing).”

Despite the time he invested, Woods revealed he wasn’t very good at the video game.

“When 7 year olds are beating you from around the world… humbling,” he said.

On The Late Show, Woods further clarified the reason for his withdraw from last week’s Safeway Open. He’s “shooting low scores at home,” he said, but “not quite there where I think I can shoot 63s or 64s in tournaments.”

Another revelation: Tiger said it took him “three-and-a-half months” to grow his beard, which he admitted “doesn’t quite fill in.”

Tiger also appeared in the “Wood talks Woods/Woods talks Wood” segment (below) on Colbert, featuring Elijah Wood. Tiger’s acting chops aren’t quite on par with the Lord of the Rings star, but we appreciate the effort and his willingness to play ball. There are a few genuinely funny moments.

Glad to see Tiger ankle deep in strange, where he belongs. If he can keep smiling, maybe he’ll learn to hit a driver stinger and win golf tournaments. He’s not THAT old

Easy to talk crap about someone from behind your computer, guaranteed you’d be kissing his shoes if you clowns saw him in real life.

Wow. He has truly turned into a clown. With that silly hair and even sillier goatee to compensate for the lost hair, I presume? What a loser he’s becoming. Keep yer golf cap on, work outside during the day, and d stay away from night time activities that involve the use of cameras to be photographed. This is just sad. A total muppet

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
