Beef to play Web.com Tour Finals in bid for PGA Tour card
The four-event Web.com Tour Finals kicks off with the DAP Championship on Sept. 8, and the cultural phenomenon that is Andrew “Beef” Johnston will be in the field.
Johnston is eligible for the Web.com Tour playoffs as a non-PGA Tour member who would have finished between No. 125 and 200 in the FedExCup standings. The top 75 golfers on the Web.com Tour money list also compete in the Finals for the 25 PGA Tour cards that aren’t already locked up.
Bryson DeChambeau and Kiradech Aphibarnrat are in a similar position and will be doing the same as the Englishman in hopes of playing in the big leagues next season.
The 27-year-old Johnston claimed his first European Tour victory in April at the Open de Espana, famously proclaiming his desire to “get hammered” following the W. He tied for eighth at The Open Championship amid further fanfare.
Regarding playing on the PGA Tour, Johnson told reporters at the PGA Championship:
“You want to play the best tournaments in the world where you can. That’s the goal is to play the biggest and best tournaments, and they happen to have a lot of them here. I like coming over and that. So obviously if I’m in there more, I’m going to be over more. It’s quite straightforward.”
Johnston could put himself a step closer to playing “the biggest and best tournaments” with his performance at the DAP Championship next week.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.
For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- btyh: “Holy offset.”
- Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
- bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing
As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.
Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.
What happens when 4 #PGATOUR pros take a day off?
Luckily, the cameras were rolling.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

Al got to agree with you 100%. But it will never happen due to the fans and money certain players can draw to certain events.

Honestly, the Tours need to quit allowing players to have memberships in various different Tours. They should have to pick one and play that one Tour for a season or whatever qualifications gets them to stay for an extended period. Then if they want to play other Tours they should have to rescind the one they’re on and play the one they choose, only. That way, up-and-comers can find space to make it up to the top tier. Too many dual members filling up space and confusing the stand-by numbers who get left out a lot.

Cool hope he gets his PGA Tour card. He will be a colorful addition to the otherwise dull (personality wise) PGA Tour

Got to agree Big Stu. He has a solid game to back up the fun friendly persona as well.
I don’t mind dual tour membership because it can bring in more revenue overall which can help grass roots too.
