The latest on Robert Allenby; Recent charges dropped, and his Twitter rampage

Published

on

Last week we brought you the news of Robert Allenby’s arrest outside an Illinois casino and apparent denial that anything had happened. According to a Golf.com report today, prosecutors have dropped the case against the Australian golfer, as the casino’s head of security has decided not to press charges.

And if you’re wondering what the Aussie has been up to in the week since his arrest, the answer seems to be “sparring on Twitter.”

Allenby, who hasn’t tweeted anything other than a reply since July of 2015, elected to make a return to the Twitterverse to take issue with fellow Australian Web.com pro Aron Price.

Price, in a tweet that has since been deleted, wrote “Good idea for a PPV (pay-per-view). Brian Williams interviewing Allenby and Lochte.”

Allenby took issue with the comparison to Olympic swimmer and apparent robbery story fabricator, Ryan Lochte, and apparent reference to the golfer’s disputed 2015 kidnapping and beating in Hawaii. And of course, Brian Williams has been revealed as a man with a tenuous relationship with the truth.

In screengrabs taken by the Daily Mail before Price deleted his portion of the exchange, we see the two golfers going back and forth with Allenby threatening physical violence (in the form of a fist emoji, because this is the world we live in).

For the interested, Allenby’s entire timeline of tweets & replies from the past few days is worth a gander, because (as you might have guessed) Allenby is waging a war on several fronts. At one point, he tells a Twitter user he couldn’t afford the wine the golfer drinks, boasts about being able to retire, and accuses another user of living in his mother’s basement.

Nice to have a real ‘character’ on the pga tour. It’s otherwise incredibly bland with all the nice-guy ‘Snedekers’ of the tour. At least Allenby gives golf writers something to do with their spare time.

This website used to be good, before current management took over

Let’s see, Allenby has an ex-wife and two kids. Between alimony and child support, he’s probably living in his mom’s basement and drinking Mad Dog 20/20.

Love, love, love this dude. Bout time we had some good pro golf smackdowns. Finally something substantial. I was getting bored of the ususal Rory saying stupid crap stories. This Allenby guy rides in to save the day. HoooHAAA

Long ago, Allenby used to be a solid journeyman on the tour, now he’s just a joke…

Very well said….. I don’t know what happened to him over the years. He and Stuart Appleby were best of friends and very solid players who were often in contention, but over the years it seems like his behavior has declined along with his play. What a shame.

**News flash. 46 year old drunk has-been fights sassy youthful golfer….and loses….like really badly.

Allenby proves how sadly misguided we are in making heroes and millionaires ($30 mil+ BTW) of our “sports stars”, while teachers, police, fire fighters, nurses… the people who deserve respect and support for a little more than whacking a little white ball around a field … toil in relative poverty. Well done, human race.

Because what it takes to become a nurse, firefighter, teacher, and police officer is stupid easy compared to becoming and top tear golfer playing on tour.

No those three jobs are not stupid easy, there is much more to being great in doing those three jobs than just getting the job.

And if you knew how to read, you’d see Anna stated that it was easier to BECOME a nurse, firefighter…

Anna did not state it was easier to BE a nurse, firefighter…

You should probably look into night classes for remedial reading.

Psycho Aussie. Put in the Aussie Rule Football league he’d do better there than play golf or cricket

Little does RA know but Price would put him 6 feet under very quickly. I’ve trained with the guy and he is an ass kicker when provoked.

Chump! I’d say if John Daly had twitter back in the day we’d have seen similar shenanigans.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
