Robert Allenby arrested at Illinois casino

Published

on

Here’s the latest installment in the “Ongoing Saga of Robert Allenby.” The 45-year-old Australian golfer missed the cut on Friday at the John Deere Classic. Not a spectacular occurrence, but his weekend got even worse early Saturday morning when he was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. outside of a Rock Island, Ill., casino.

Allenby was reportedly charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing as a result of his behavior at Jumer’s Casino, where he was staying.

What the heck does this really mean? It’s unclear at this point. And Allenby is taking a similar tack as he did following his disputed January 2015 kidnapping in Hawaii. The golfer stated “there’s no story” with regards to his arrest after posting $1,500 bond.

“I don’t know anything that’s going on, so you can say whatever you want,” Allenby told USA Today Sports, adding, “There’s nothing to be said or done about. Nothing happened…I have no idea, mate. No idea.’’

Well, neither do we.

For now, here’s the official word, per what a Rock Island County Police Department spokesperson told the Australian Associated Press

“Robert Allenby was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass from Jumer’s Casino on August 13th at about 2.29 a.m. He was transported to Rock Island County Jail and we do believe he has bonded out.”

Probably Bi-Polar Disorder. Exacerbated by alcohol. Hope he realizes he needs help.

He’s only doing what is right of passage for all aussie males. Travel overseas, get smashed, get arrested, forget what happened, start again.

It means he was drunk, got out of control, then failed to leave when told to leave.

Thanks for setting me straight @joy – slipped my mind that ignorant bigotry was the foundation stone of humour in some circles. I’ll try harder to fit in and be more joyful – just for you & Oe
