Rory McIlroy shot a final-round 67 to claim his second FedExCup event in as many weeks at the BMW Championship.

McIlroy finished at 20-under, two shots clear of Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson.

Reqq, the points reset for the Tour Championship. So forget everything that happened before and here are what your top 5 players have point wise:
1st- 2500
2nd- 2250
3rd- 2000
4th- 1800
5th- 1600

The winner of the event wins 2500 points. So if 5th place (Brandt Snedeker) wins the event, he will have a total points total of 4100. If Rory (current 1st place) gets 2nd in the event, he will get 1500 points for the event and finish with 4000 points, thus making Brandt the winner of the Fedex Cup. Where this gets hairy is if Rory places horribly, and one of the top 3 guys get second place, they essentially could claim the Fedex Cup title just by placing 2nd

Can anyone explain how the fedex cup points works. Rory now over 2500 points ahead and only 2500 points for the winner next week, hence Rory is unreachable, but yet pgatour says top 5 has a chance to win?

GolfWRX is on site this week at the Valero Texas Open.

The event has been around since 1922, making it one of the oldest on the PGA Tour calendar. Over the years, it’s been held at a variety of courses across the Lone Star State, but it’s found its home at TPC San Antonio in recent years. Some of the biggest names in golf have taken home the title here, including Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, and Ben Crenshaw.
