FTF: Additions to the rules of golf? Playing partner pet peeves?

Published

on

The GolfWRX forums exist so golfers have access to the latest equipment releases, hottest discussions, real equipment reviews, best instruction, new technologies and everything golf you can imagine. So if you love golf, the GolfWRX forums are your sanctuary.

In the From the Forums weekly feature, we bring you the hottest, most buzz-worthy topics from our forums for your convenience. I’ll be your trusty tour guide to navigate the latest buzz. Here’s a peek behind the curtain into golf’s sanctuary.

What rules would you add to the Rules of Golf?

2014USGA-Decisions-on-Rules-of-Golf

FinleySG writes: Seriously, are there any additional rules you would add to the rule book? I actually have two.

  1. Lines on the ball are no longer allowed. Golf ball manufacturers may not apply their logo in a straight line. Players may not draw a line longer than 1/4″ on the ball.
  1. Caddies may not align their player. No caddie is allowed to stand behind the player when s/he addresses the ball.

Interesting potential additions. And even in an environment of relaxed rules initiatives, these make sense as their violation undermines the spirit of other rules. What do you think? Let us know in the thread.

Giveaway: What driver shaft are you playing?

post-1164-0-66086400-1462475684

For the folks that signed up for our Equipment Testing Panel, we present a great giveaway. Answer the following questions in this thread, and you could be one of five winners chosen:

  • What’s the current driver model you’re playing?
  • What shaft are you gaming? (manufacturer, model, flex, weight, tipping)
  • What’s your current ball flight?
  • Average driving distance?
  • Are you happy with this current shaft?
  • If chosen, do you agree to test the new shaft and participate in an ongoing review thread with other GolfWRX members?

Playing partner pet peeves?

PlayingPartnerGolf

You can’t tell them, so why not tell us? Credit to JD3 kicking off this thread so that we can air our grievances about our playing partners. He mentions golfers that leave price stickers on their clubs as particularly bothersome. Another user said golfers who choose clubs hoping for miracles, rather than something more realistic, irk him.

Me? How about when you hit, look over, and the next member up in your group is yet to start his elaborate pre-shot routine… Share your playing partner pet peeves.

WRX’s favorite pros

CharleyHoffman

Here’s an interesting thread started by Arpeggi begging the question: Which golfers do GolfWRX forum readers love? Here are a few, and see who else WRXers love.

  • Justin Rose
  • Louis Oozthuisen
  • Brooks Koepka
  • Danny Willett
  • Charley Hoffman

Rory’s outfit

Rory-Joggers

The GolfWRX forums aren’t often the place for hot fashion-related threads (and they’re better for it, certainly). But Rory’s outfit at the first round of The Players has generated some discussion (as Nike surely hoped it would). The jogger era may be upon us.

With 80 replies in the first five hours since posting, GolfWRX members have a lot to say about Mr. McIlroy’s attire. Weigh in.

Seriously it takes forever for some players to line up their ball. Put it down and putt already . And nice pants Can’t wait to buy a pair if I was twenty. It’s the new line of pants looks good on the flat bellies not on fat guys.

i have a playing partner that will hit it off into the desert and then literally remove every rock, pebble within a 3 inch radius around the ball. He ends up with a lie that is way better than the center of the fwy.
He also taps the sole of his wedge behind his ball when hes in the bunker. He thinks nobody sees this and we all just shake our heads.

You can move all the rocks you want unless it is a water hazard. Also the ball cannot move and you cannot take up any soil just rocks, leaves etc.

Wow, I did not realize that the line on my golf ball was holding the guys in front of me up so much that it was causing me to wait on every single shot – except the putt when I use the line on my golf ball.

It’s the all guys in front of you that has to line up their putts to the line on their ball then readjust that line that is holding everybody up.

Of all the possible rules to add, why would you want to make the game harder by preventing golfers from marking a line on their ball?

….” Lines on the ball are no longer allowed. Golf ball manufacturers may not apply their logo in a straight line. Players may not draw a line longer than 1/4? on the ball.” Seriously? There are too many other thing s in the game that need attention.

From the Forums: How are you liking TaylorMade’s Qi10 fairway woods?

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing TaylorMade’s new Qi10 fairway woods. WRXer ‘ace036’ plans on testing them in the next few weeks, saying: “from how they look from address and frame the ball is much more appealing to my eye versus my current Paradym fairway woods.” And our members have been sharing their positive feedback in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Edwardsr: “I got fit into the Qi10 core model with Ventus TR Black 8X and it’s absolutely amazing for me.During the fitting with my 12-15 swings with it, it was the most efficient combo I’ve ever tested, tons of 1.48 smash and 3 or 4 1.49 smash (which I don’t think I’ve ever gotten on 3 wood on a launch monitor).”
  • MiloMalt: “No complaints and so far only high praise for my Qi10 Tour 3 and 5 wood. I’m getting great numbers and a nice penetrating ball flight with great height whereas with my old TSi2 4 wood it was spinny and ballooning and short because of that.”
  • courcy75: “The Qi10 Tour 3 wood I just put in play has been outstanding for me. Finally found something I like as much as the 07 burner tp.”
