Published

on

The GolfWRX forums exist so golfers have access to the latest equipment releases, hottest discussions, real equipment reviews, best instruction, new technologies and everything golf you can imagine.

So if you love golf, the GolfWRX forums are your sanctuary.

In the From the Forums weekly feature, we bring you the hottest, most buzz-worthy topics from our forums for your convenience. I’ll be your trusty tour guide to navigate the latest buzz.

Here’s a peek behind the curtain into golf’s sanctuary.

TaylorMade PSi testing

HipCheck wrote: “Recently, 5 GolfWRX members were chosen to test TaylorMade PSi irons. Normally, testers would send their specs and receive their clubs after. This time, TaylorMade took it a step further and had each member properly fit by TaylorMade staff into their PSi irons. They’ll add their TaylorMade fitting sessions and PSi iron reviews shortly.”

Neilcsd was the first to post a thoughtful, insightful take on his fitting with TMag, and others have followed suit. As a combined PSi review and narrative of a cool experience, this thread is a must read (and it has pictures!).

Best blades you’ve ever played?

MiuraLeftHandYMB

The first question regarding this thread: Which is better, the topic (the best blade irons you’ve ever played) or the handle of the thread starter: Sir Edward of Putternut?

While you ponder that, we’ll just say that if you’re a passionate purist and lover of the traditional forged iron, you have to get in on this discussion and sing the praises of your old Wilsons or Mizunos.

The most disruptive innovation in the golf industry?

prov1upclose

Whether it’s the move from the feathery to the gutta percha ball or from persimmon to titanium club heads, the history of golf and golf equipment has always been one of innovation. User tlejiva started an awesome thread with the question, What do you guys think is the most disruptive innovation golf industry history?

Tiger swing video analysis

tiger-woods-full-swing

You knew when Tiger Woods tweeted a video hitting a soft 9-iron at a simulator screen — the first visual evidence of his swing in months — there would be analysis (in addition to jubilation that the former No. 1 is upright).

And there are few better places to talk shop about the golf swing than the GolfWRX forums. Ten pages and 276 posts long at the time of this writing, the breakdown of/commentary on TW’s “progressing nicely” video doesn’t disappoint.

The Zach Johnson thread was locked because too many comments touched on Zach’s religion. Fair enough. But isn’t golf a religion?

Guess you can’t respond to this promoted Zach Johnson thread. It’s been locked….. Is this place becoming the old bomb squad golf now? Locked threads, and are mass bannings far behind?……. The over regulation brought BSG down…

      Iceman,

Unfortunately, the thread was locked after it appeared in this story, and for that reason the link to the Zach Johnson thread had been removed. We lock threads as infrequently as possible, but it’s something our moderators have to do from time to time when a thread changes character and is longer viable due to multiple rules violations. You can learn more about our rules and terms here if you have not already read them: http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules.

Just a heads up, Ben, there are a few typos in this article. The second title should read “The best blades you’ve ever* hit”, and in the first paragraph under “Players you want to like but can’t” your first use of “it’s” should be “its”. There may have been one more, but I forget where it was.

Thanks for the heads up, BH. Those typos have been corrected.

What irons do you play? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing the irons that they currently play. WRXer ‘Vater’ asks members which brand they have in the bag and why, and you can see the results so far after 189 survey participants.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Vater: “I use Titleist 718 AP1s because they cost less new than some used clubs, haha. In all seriousness, I love the quality overall, and specifically, I was looking for a set with a good GW – and most of all, I wanted to play a 4 iron again, and the 4 and 5 irons in the 718 AP1s are beastly.”
  • aadadams: “I use Taylormade Speedblades for about the last 6 years, they still work great for my game, and I don’t see a change in the near future.”
  • Celebros: “Cobra Forged Tour.”
  • jholz: “I am Cleveland, but towards the latter end of the glory days – CG7 Tours. About as good a club as money can buy. Wish I could find some CG7 Tour Concepts!”
  • gripandrip: “Srixon 745’s. Most likely may be looking to the ZX7 as a possible replacement. Love my Srixon irons.”

What GolfWRXers are saying about their favorite putters

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing their favorite putters. WRXer ‘platgof’ kicks off the thread with his Toulon Colombus, which he describes as “the best $140 I have spent in golf”. Our members have been sharing their favorite flat-sticks in the thread, with a variety of different putters receiving a glowing mention.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • 18thbunker: “Wilson 8802 —- As simple as they come. Picked this up in brand new condition at a garage sale.”
  • LUXOR54: “Mizuno TPM 3. picked one up in the steel Blue looking finish for $30, I absolutely love it. I could never get comfortable with the plumbers neck in the anser I was using before, but the flow neck in the Mizuno is choice. Came with the original grip on it as well, still in perfect condition. Little bit thinner throughout its length than the pingman putter grip, and it’s corded. I love corded putter grips now.”
  • NYCGolfNut: “This guy (main photo)… Perfection! Newport 2 pro-plat mid-slant.”
  • JimmyC59: “Classic Acushnet Bullseye. Circa late 70s.”
  • Tommyj: “Ping Karsten Zing, plain and industrial looking, and an amazing value at around $80 when they came out in 2007.”
