From the forums: What’s buzzing on GolfWRX this week
The GolfWRX forums exist so golfers have access to the latest equipment releases, hottest discussions, real equipment reviews, best instruction, new technologies and everything golf you can imagine.
So if you love golf, the GolfWRX forums are your sanctuary.
In the From the Forums weekly feature, we bring you the hottest, most buzz-worthy topics from our forums for your convenience. I’ll be your trusty tour guide to navigate the latest buzz.
Here’s a peek behind the curtain into golf’s sanctuary
The best lesson you’ve ever had?
A PGA Pro, user gjshakfranski from Minneapolis, started a thread to get member feedback about good golf lessons.
Shafranski writes: “As our season comes to a close up north each season, I do some reflection on my own teaching. In an effort to always improve as a teacher, I’m turning to the GolfWRX community to tell me about the best lesson(s) you’ve had. Could be due to any number of things:”
He then mentions a list of potential “things,” such as take-home notes and the use of technology.
The thread, which is only a few days old, is filled with responses painting with every color in the spectrum of good and bad lessons.
Check it out, and add to the discussion with your lesson experiences.
Debate: How would the Tour’s longest hitters fare in Long Drive competition?
WRXer david wayne started a thread devoted to the question, “How would the PGA Tour’s longest hitters do in Long Drive competition?”
The responses are interesting. Here’s one: J13 says, “The LD guys would destroy them in distance. Swing speed for DJ and Jason Day is around 120, swing speed for the top LD guys is 145-150mph. HUGE HUGE HUGE difference.”
And of course, there are those who argue we haven’t seen Day or Johnson’s maximum swing speed, as they’re never swinging out of their shoes in competition.
Interesting discussion. Check it out and weigh in.
Professional golf analyst: Caddies are “glorified pull carts”
According to minitour, Chris DiMarco, Golf Channel analyst and former PGA Tour pro, agreed with the sentiment voiced by a SiriusXM co-host that caddies are “glorified pull carts.”
How do you feel about the demeaning take, which echoes ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith’s sentiments the other day?
Looking at the thread, while a few forumites are appalled by the assessment, many more find a real measure of truth in the characterization.
What do you think? Weigh in.
Snell golf ball giveaway
Another great giveaway for WRXers; this time, Snell golf balls!
Here are the details:
Two lucky winners will get their choice of: 6 dozen Snell My Tour Ball packs or 6 dozen Get Sum packs.
Find out how to enter in the thread.
Scotty Cameron putter buffet at Sanderson Farms Championship
We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again. Our Tour equipment photography is the best in the business…by far. Greg Moore capturers hundreds of unique images nearly every week from tour stops.
This week, he shot a veritable cornucopia of tour issue Scotty Camerons that you ought to feast on immediately.
Do you carry a club that you never hit?
Here’s an interesting (if trivial) question to wrap up FTF this week: Is there a club in your bag you seem like you never end up hitting?
In an ideal world, a golfer will derive utility from all 14 of his/her weapons. Practically, however, that’s often not how it works out.
For example, as conrad 1953 says, “I rarely almost never ever hit my 4 wood. I usually will hit a hybrid instead. I go home most times and clean my clubs after the round and don’t bother even pulling the head cover off my 4 wood.”

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.
For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- btyh: “Holy offset.”
- Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
- bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing
As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.
Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.
What happens when 4 #PGATOUR pros take a day off?
Luckily, the cameras were rolling.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
