IN HAND ADJUSTABLE PING ANSER DRIVER FROM TRUE SOUTH CLASSIC

Published

on

Here are our first up-close, in-hand pictures of the PING’s first adjustable driver.  At the True South Classic, Joey Snyder, III has the new PING ANSER driver in the bag this week in Jackson, MS.  So, here you go!  What do you think?

ADJUSTABLE ANSER DRIVER – The Anser driver is a 460cc titanium head with a black-matte finish that is adjustable for loft plus or minus 1/2 degree. This is the first time Ping has engineered an adjustable driver. For years Ping saw no value to adjust the specs if properly fitted. It will be interesting to hear why they think there is a reason now. Ping’s credibilitybeign so high will certainly have a good answer for this.

Adjusting the loft will also change the face angle from open to closed. More loft and the more it is closed and conversely less loft will make the face angle open up.

The Anser Driver is flat black just like the 2012 i20 Driver that won the GolfRWX 12′ Editors Choice, 12 GolfWRX Community Choice as well as the Golf Digest Hot List Gold Award. The driver has four “standard” lofts: 8.5, 9.5,10.5 and 12 degrees and is expected to be available to consumers in mid-August. Pricing not available yet.

Yawn? Not everyone is born with an innate sense of taste clearly, but this is the understated driver that many players are looking for + adjustability. The I20 was an amazing piece of art and performance, but the answer answers that and removes all distasteful graphics from the crown so that those who know how to aim and swing can do just that! This driver will beat your driver in performance and looks. Great job Ping! I just wish I staffed with you now! Especially since your players are currently dominating with your equipment!

Ping had told us two years ago that they were going to release an adjustable Anser Driver, however, they were not going to release it until they could consistantly prove that it could out perform the non-adjustable variations that were already on the market. Whether this does the trick has yet to be seen but the buzz we are recieving on it thus far has been very positive.
I may be the odd one, but I like the direction that ping is going with this. The I-20 is a very classic/sleek looking driver and it looks that they are doing the same with this one. I staff with Mizuno right now but I am pretty excited to see this in action

Adjustability may not be your thing, or the driver may look boring. But I will say they did an exceptional job of not making the driver look like an adjustable driver. The hosel adjustment is minuscule. Impressive!

Couldn’t agree more, Scott…at least from my “arm chair” perspective. That ANSER driver might win the award for “Most boring looking driver”. Nevertheless, i’m quite happy to see PING try some thing new.
