15 Revealing photos from the Wyndham Championship
GolfWRX is live this week from the 2015 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. If you missed any of this week’s photos, check out the galleries below:
The big story this week is that Tiger Woods committed to the event for the first time, which most likely means a “Tiger Cut Watch” on Friday, a “what went wrong for Tiger” segment on Saturday… then enjoying the leaders play on Sunday. But actually, I chose Tiger as value pick this week. I mean, you can’t make a great pick by going with the sheep, right?
Anyways, onto the Revealing Photos from this week at the Wyndham.
Let’s start with a Scotty Cameron gallery…
Satisfy the gear fix for the equipment junkies right off the bat. A true man of the people.
GolfWRX chips putting a smile on everyone’s face!
Well..half smiles.
Can’t stop, won’t stop.
K.J. Choi refuses to stop working out on the range. What an animal!
Jason Gore seems to like his new training aid
But I personally think it’s full of hot air.
Titleist’s new Pro V1 Prototype Practice balls
Apparently the wings aren’t USGA conforming.
Our own Nick Randall hanging out with star pupil Cameron Smith
Best of luck this week, guys! Click here to view Nick’s GolfWRX stories.
Justin Thomas with Brad Gehl’s wedge in his bag?
Maybe he was just Gehlous…
Tiger puts the trusty Nike VRS Forged 2 iron back in the bag
He doesn’t look happy with the first tee shot with it, however.
Jon Curran’s glove throwing up the shaka fingers
Shaka, brah!
Odyssey’s chromed-out Tank Cruiser logo
Creatively uses the center circle as the end of the tank gun barrel. Cool stuff… if you like staring down the barrel of a gun every time you take the putter out of your bag.
Does Tiger know the tag is always sticking out of his hat?
I feel like someone should tell him.
Snedeker’s caddie with the double-popped collar
Haven’t seen that look since Jersey Shore went off air.
Jason Gore’s treble-clef belt buckle
I can’t believe 59 Belts went through all that treble to make this for Jason…
h/t bulldog11
The Wyndham Worldwide Bar’s bar stools don’t leave much leg room…
Pretty cool tee markers, though.
What do I think about this week’s revealing photos?
Overall, I’d say it was a decent week.

Spotted: Tony Finau’s driver shaft change at the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open
Tony Finau has always been known as one of the longest players on the PGA Tour, but he has recently been working on adding a little more distance. Last year, Finau averaged 118.3 mph club head speed and 178.08 mph ball speed, all while playing a Mitsubishi Diamana D+ Limited 70 TX driver shaft. This year, he has increased his club head speed to 123.93 mph and his ball speed to 183.32 mph.
However, Finau’s overall distance has decreased by two yards in that time. From a fitting perspective, something was up. We asked Tony about the shaft change at the Texas Children’s Hospital Open.
“[I’m seeing] better numbers with the spin. My driver’s been a little high spin for me over the last month or so, and so I just figured it was time to probably check out the equipment,” Finau said. “And it definitely showed me that I was using a shaft that’s maybe a little too tip-stiff for me, the way I load the club now. [I’m seeing] better numbers with the spin.”
Finau switched from the Mitsubishi Diamana D+ Limited 70 TX into the Diamana GT 70 TX. The newer Diamana GT has a slightly different profile than the D+ Limited with the stiffest handle section in the Diamana lineup. The mid sections between the two are similar stiffness but the tip is just slightly stiffer in the Diamana GT. Both shafts are within one gram of each other in the 70 TX. The torque rating on the GT is 0.1 higher than the D+Limited’s 2.7 measurement.
Mitsubishi lists the Diamana GT as a shaft between the mid-launching Diamana TB and the new low-launch Diamana WB shafts. For most players, it would be considered a mid/low launch and low-spin shaft option. Mitsubishi’s Xlink Tech Resin System makes sure the maximum carbon fiber content is there for smooth feel without reducing the strength of the shaft. MR70 carbon fiber is used for reinforcing the shaft and boron is used in the tip for its high strength and compression properties.
Finau is still using his trusty Ping G430 LST driver in 9 degrees and has the adjustable hosel set to -1 degree of loft (standard lie angle). Finau’s long-time favorite Lamkin UTX Green grip is installed. He definitely has a few extra wraps of tape under that grip as you can see the bulge down where the grip meets the shaft.

Has anyone ever bought a tee marker from a PGA tour event? Those things are really cool and I wish I could buy one.

Thanks but I have the easy part of the job. Just take 1000+ photos. AT has to look at them all, pick the best and then write something clever. That to me is the hard part.
