2015 U.S. Open Odds

Published

on

There are many different ways to describe this year’s U.S. Open venue, Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. Easy to bet is not one of them.

The course was built in 2007, and looks more like a British Open than an American Open on first glance. Many experts also expect the new major championship venue to play more like an Open Championship, with position and precision being more important than power. But then again, the course can play as long as 7,874 yards or several hundred yards shorter, depending on the USGA’s mood.

When placing your bets this year, the most important factor is likely overall skill. USGA setups demand golfers do everything well if they wish to hoist the U.S. Open trophy. The last five U.S. Open winners — Martin Kaymer, Justin Rose, Webb Simpson, Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell — are some of the most complete golfers in the game. When in doubt, favor the better players.

Below we’ve listed odds to win from Bovada of all the golfers in the 2015 U.S. Open field, and divided them into four categories: Favorites, Good Bets, Dark Horses and Long Shots.

Don’t bet on Golf! But if you do grab a scrambler or a putter who can also play a high ball flight on command:

    Paul Casey: 66/1
    Hideki Matsuyama: 33/1
    Alexander Noren: 150/1
    John Senden: 200/1
    Brandt Snedeker: 50/1
    Victor Dubuisson: 150/1

Come on, give it to Phil. He still got it. Second guess would be Sergio but to be honest he should rather win The Open (in Scotland) if this was his only ever major.
