Johnny Manziel throws water bottle at fan at AT&T Byron Nelson

Published

on

Johnny Manziel was verbally harassed by an autograph-seeker while attending the AT&T Byron Nelson on Saturday at TPC Four Seasons in Irvine, Texas, according to ESPN. Although no charges were filed, the Cleveland Browns quarterback and Texas-native threw a water bottle at the heckler in response.

[quote_box_center]”There was a kid — I’ll call him a kid, he was 18 — at the pool area,” Irving public information officer James McLellan told ESPN. “The kid had been asking [Manziel] for a couple hours for his autograph, and he wouldn’t give it to him. That turned into badgering on the kid’s part, and it reached the point where Johnny Manziel threw a bottle of water at the kid. I don’t know if it hit him. I guess I would say that ramped it up a bit.”[/quote_box_center]

McLellan said the 32-ounce water bottle was about three-quarters full, according to ESPN’s report. A friend of Manziel’s stepped in after the water bottle was thrown, and pushed the heckler.

[quote_box_center]”That’s about the time hotel security and our officers stepped in,” McLellan said. “Try to put a stop to it.”[/quote_box_center]

The photo below, which surfaced on Twitter on Sunday, shows Manziel speaking with authorities at the event on Saturday.

McLellan said there was no evidence that Manziel, who was recently released from rehab, was intoxicated.

Getting used to overbearing fans is tough. It takes maturity which Manziel obviously lacks. But I don’t care how much you get heckled you cannot respond with violence. He should either be subject to fines, be the subject of a battery case for damages or criminal prosecution or any combo of these. These guys getting off simply because they are Mr. Football is just plain stupid and it needs to stop.

Was it a tight spiral, or was there a slight wobble?

I’m surprised one of his friends didn’t take one for the team and convince this kid that it’s a bad idea.

Just because Manziel is a celebrity doesn’t mean he owes you an autograph. Verbally abusive is abusive. Kids lucky he didn’t get taken to the woodshed.

Assuming this is what happened – when will the PGA start throwing these hecklers and idiots out of tourneys?

Since this was between a kid at the pool and a non-PGA Tour pro I’d say probably never.

You sound like a Keegan Bradley fan. Typical.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
