17 Revealing Photos from the AT&T Byron Nelson
GolfWRX was live this week from the AT&T Byron Nelson at TPC Four Seasons, the second (and last) leg of the PGA Tour Texas-swing.
Unfortunately, the weather was terrible. Rain storms, thunder storms and tornado warnings were abound, but we stuck it out to bring you the best photos possible.
Browse this week’s photo galleries here.
It was a wet one, but check out this week’s edition of Revealing Photos from the TPC at Four Seasons in Irvine, Texas.
A Happy Gilmore wedge-stamping to infuriate opponents
Dropping a “somebody’s closer,” in Happy’s high-pitched voice is certain to cut deep into the soul of your playing partner after sticking your approach closer than him.

John “The Rocket” Rollins’ camouflage wedges are ready to hunt
Hopefully for birdies and eagles, not innocent bunny rabbits.
And leave this bird out of it, too. He’s fresh out of the barber shop.
There’s a bizarro-world Dustin Johnson caddying this week
One is a Tour player wearing pants and smiling, the other is a Tour caddy wearing shorts with a death stare — opposite, but yet, so similar.
“Up is down; down is up. He says hello when he leaves and goodbye when he arrives.”
Spieth has something funny on his phone that Justin Thomas can’t stop laughing at
“Dude, that’s hilarious.”
“HAHAHA, ouch my ribcage.”
“Wait, let me see that again.”
*takes phone for up close view, continues cracking up*
*still trying to regain composure*
Sometimes we forget that guys like Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth — despite having healthy bank accounts and loads of golf skill — are just 21-year-old kids that can’t stop laughing at something on a phone while other golfers are on the tee box.
Who says golfers aren’t cool?
This duo is like the new age Method Man and Redman.
Fresh to death.
Lefties constantly complain about hand-dominance discrimination from golf manufacturers
But we shouldn’t hear a word about not being able to compress a golf ball. The DST Compressor training aid clearly comes in left-handed options, as shown in Tim Wilkinson’s bag this week.
In this week’s edition of “desperate times call for desperate measures”
We bring you garbage bag golf bag covers. There’s nothing worse in golf than wet grips, and that’s a fact.
The best putting drill to sharpen your focus…
Is definitely the one where you have a caddy changing his smelly, wet shoes behind you. Requires laser focus that translates well to the course.
Wondering how these new Lamkin grips perform?
Question: answered.
Review: Lamkin UTx and Wrap-Tech grips
Jeff King, founder of Kingmade Jerky, eating Kingmade Jerky
It’s like watching Ronald McDonald eat a Big Mac, or Colonel Sanders eat a Kentucky-fried chicken wing. Poetic.
I have no idea what’s going on in this picture
But maybe some things are better left unknown.
True Temper Project X’s handmade proto graphite shaft now comes in red
Our sources say the black-colored prototype will produce lower launch and spin, while the red shaft will be slightly higher spinning.
The Dizzy Wedge
This “Dre” double-stamp on the Callaway Mack Daddy PM Grind looks simple at first, but it’s nothing but a headache if you stare at it long enough.
Check out this Grilled Cheese putter.
Fourteen Golf has a new line of crazy-looking HK putters — even more bizarre than the cheeseburger putter pictured above. See more in the gallery below.
Jimmy Walker actually has a comparatively legible autograph to his contemporaries
As Arnold Palmer once said, “I have always felt very strongly that if someone thinks enough of me that they want my autograph, I should provide one that they can read. Very little irritates me more these days than to see the illegible autographs that some people give out.”
Looks like Walker is in the clear. But Rory on the other hand;
What does that say, “Jimmy Omg”?
Dufner carrying just about all 14 of his clubs
That looks like me walking to my golf ball across the fairway when it’s “cart path only.”
“It’s about 210, which could be a 3, 4, 5 or 6-iron depending on the wind. But what if the lie is bad and I need to lay up? That could be anywhere from a 7-iron to a lob wedge. Ahh forget it, I’ll just bring ’em all.”
This AT&T sign has good intentions, but a poor message
Comparing children’s future to a waning sunset is a little disconcerting, no? A “back-nine sunset” means the round is almost over and it’s about to be nighttime — nothing encouraging about that. Wouldn’t a sunrise be more promising? Plus, sunlight during sunset is way dimmer than midday sunlight. It’s like saying “their futures are brighter than a flashlight that’s super low on batteries.”
Just an overall swing-and-a-miss metaphor here from AT&T.

Rickie Fowler’s new putter: Standard-length Odyssey Jailbird 380 in custom orange
Editor’s note: This is an excerpt from a piece our Andrew Tursky originally wrote for PGATour.com’s Equipment Report. Head over there for the full article.
…The Jailbird craze hasn’t really slowed down in 2024, either. According to Odyssey rep Joe Toulon, there are about 18-20 Jailbird putter users on the PGA TOUR.
Most recently, Akshay Bhatia won the 2024 Valero Texas Open using a broomstick-style Odyssey Jailbird 380 putter and Webb Simpson is switching into a replica of that putter at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.
Now, Fowler, who essentially started the whole Jailbird craze, is making a significant change to his putter setup.
Fowler, who has had a couple weeks off since the 2024 RBC Heritage, started experimenting with a new, custom-orange Jailbird 380 head that’s equipped with a standard 35-inch putter build, rather than his previous 38-inch counter-balanced setup.
According to Fowler, while he still likes the look and forgiveness of his Jailbird putter head, he’s looking to re-incorporate more feel into his hands during the putting stroke.
He told GolfWRX.com on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Championship that the 38-inch counterbalanced setup “served its purpose” by helping him to neutralize his hands during the stroke, but now it’s time to try the standard-length putter with a standard-size SuperStroke Pistol Tour grip to help with his feel and speed control.
Although Fowler was also spotted testing standard-length mallets from L.A.B. Golf and Axis1 on Tuesday, he confirmed that the custom Odyssey Jailbird 380 is the putter he’ll use this week at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.
Head over to PGATour.com for the full article.

You guys are doing a nice job with this series. It’s a good feature to break up some of the other (instruction/equipment) content that has gotten a bit stale over the last few years.
Keep up the good work, and thanks!
