Check out the car Bubba Watson is auctioning off for Birdies for the Brave

Published

Reigning Masters champ, Bubba Watson is making headlines not for a temper tantrum or music video, but rather for a good deed: He’s auctioning off his 1939 Cadillac LaSalle C-Hawk Custom Roadster during the 2015 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction with the proceeds to benefit Birdies for the Brave.

Here’s a link to the auction listing, and a shot of the sleek C-Hawk below.

Watson’s car is slated to be on the block Friday, Jan. 16, at 5 p.m and he’s expected to be in attendance to watch the bidding.

As mentioned, he’ll donate the proceeds of the sale to Birdies for the Brave.

Watson’s father was a Green Beret during the Vietnam War. As the golfer said in a statement, “It’s an honor to support the Green Beret Foundation and Birdies for the Brave, who do so much to give back to members of our U.S. Armed Forces and their families.”

Here’s a bit more about the charity Watson’s auction benefits:

Birdies for the Brave was originally created in 2006 by PGA TOUR player Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy, to support combat-injured troops. The PGA TOUR subsequently adopted Birdies for the Brave and expanded it to include a variety of military outreach and appreciation activities during TOUR events, as well as a series of Birdies for the Brave fundraising events at TPCs and partner clubs nationwide – an effort that has raised more than $13 million for military homefront charities that directly serve wounded warriors and military families.

I think it’s interesting how most of us here are so supporting to these guys. Guys are supportive of Phil’s complaint of taxes etc. These guys are not individuals but corporations that handle their money
and advise them how to distribute their money in the most advantage way to avoid TAXES. If you think these guys are really philanthropic then you are failing to realize the difference between us “golfers”. I give my stuff to Goodwill. How about you ?

Exactly. It’s not what you do when people are looking its what you do when they aren’t. I know a lot of good is done behind the scenes but of course Blubba’s so called gift to charity is front and center.

What a gift to a great cause. You the man BUBBA.

  4. Really?

Way to go guys. Good job turning a great gesture into a hate filled series of comments. Bubba is helping a great cause to support the men and women that serve and protect this country. When was the last time you donated 6 figures in a year to a charity? Stop looking at a few incidents that Bubba has had, have you ever got upset on a golf course? Ya, thought so. Just Google “Bubba Watson Charity” and tell me the last time you have done that much for charity. Calm down guys. Plus it is a sweet car.

I applaud his gesture but I question his sincerity. My home course hosted a tour event two years ago and after a practice round I witnessed something that summed up my suspicions. I watched Bubba just absolutely undress a waiter that got his lunch order wrong in front of about fifty people in our grill room. He’s a verifiable DB and I would bet my house on the fact that he wouldn’t give that amount to charity if he weren’t getting a hefty tax savings.

Note from Bubba’s CPA: Hay Bub if you are going to keep winning tournaments your gonna have to start dumping some stuff for charity. Something high dollar you’ll never use. Auction should bring in more than book value.

Nothing more than his marketing team hard at work to revamp his image after a series of d**chebag incidents this past year that went viral.

WHY DO THESE NOTHING EVER ACCOMPLISHED JERKS FEEL THE NEED TO SLAM A NICE GUY THAT HAS DONE WELL AND SHARES HIS SUCCESS?

Bubba is annoying but at least he’s doing something worthwhile for once.

Dang, just as I was about to believe the chorus that Bubba is all evil and stuff, he goes and helps the troops. I’m so confused now…

I don’t think anyone said he was a total dou***, he has great moments of generosity and has shown a charitable spirit. He probably does a lot of stuff right. I think the big turn off is he tends to come off as an overbearing ego maniac and that is what turns people off. If his team wants to improve his image… a great big slice of humble pie might help.
