Spotted: Callaway Big Bertha V Series Driver
Just last week, the Callaway Big Bertha V Series driver was added to the USGA conforming list. Today, we spotted the driver on tour at the 2014 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
As expected from the initial photos that surfaced, the V Series drivers don’t have a moveable weight system, but they do appear to have adjustable hosels. Callaway hasn’t released any information regarding technology, but from the photos, it can be assumed the drivers have what’s called “Speed Optimized Technology” in the club head.
For now, we’ll just have to enjoy the photos and speculate about the technology.

Heavy Artillery: A look at drivers in play at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans
What are the driver and shaft combinations of the best golfers in the world? For gearheads, it’s an endlessly interesting question — even if we can only ever aspire to play LS heads and 7 TX shafts.
At this week’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans, GolfWRX got in-hand looks at the driver setups of a wealth of players.
Check out some of the most interesting combos below, then head to the GolfWRX forums for the rest, as well as the rest of our galleries from New Orleans.

This is getting just silly stupid already.
Cor is at its limit, same for cc’s and dimensions.
So, this one is deeper, this one has aero fins, etc., etc.
Now even Cali is getting into the act of a new, “better driver” every quarter !!!
If you don’t like your current driver, then reshaft it by a good fitter. You will be amazed at the change in performance/results.
Do not get suckered in by the marketing hype. I am quite sure your golf ball will not know the differece of which driver hit it !!!!!

That face looks really deep and if it is I’m hoping they make a more shallow one because deep faces just don’t look right to me but other the depth of the face I really like the simple look

Just a quick response. Bought the Cleveland Custom Classic XL last year. Decided to compare it to every new driver out in 2014 and I mean every one. They were all as close to my current setup as I could get. Not one was better than my current one including the SLDR. Some of the numbers were close or the same on the monitor at the PGA Superstore I buy from but, none were better. I’ll keep my money and stay away from the hype.

V Series? What’s that; the value series or something? Like the sldr s. Haha. Hey, what’s one more driver in the line-up. Guess they didn’t feel like they quite had all demographics covered with only 6 drivers so they needed to cater to the 12 golfers that were demanding a big bertha without the mizuno fast track technology or the $500 gravity core that Mickelson makes look so good.

I would love to see Callaway keep this 460cc version, then produce a 400 or 350cc pro version, I love my 3deep and would just love to see modern tech put into a classic package. Swing Speeds would pick up with the smaller head.
