Tom Watson – Lessons of a Lifetime

How many of you were rooting for Tom Watson during that epic Open Championship at Turnberry in 2009?  How could you not?  Sure, he ended up making some bad shots at the end but he came out a winner in the eyes of many golf fans.

It wasn’t like he’s never won a big tourney; he’s a World Golf Hall of Famer and 8 time major championship winner with a career that spans a few decades.  How could the average golfer not pick up some viable tips from him?

Tom Watson, and Tom Watson Productions have now releases a comprehensive golf instructional two-DVD set titled 'Tom Watson – Lessons of a Lifetime'.  This two-DVD set contains close to three hours of golf instruction and has an accompanying booklet of 44 lessons was filmed at The Greenbrier Resort, where Watson is Golf Professional Emeritus.

I was given an advance copy of the DVDs and couldn’t wait to dive in.  The press release describes it as: “This instructional program is the ultimate learning experience, covering all facets of the game-from the grip to full shots, to chipping, putting and the secret of his timeless swing, plus specialty shots including those required in strong wind conditions.”

Indeed Mr. Watson is watchable, thorough, and incredibly likable in this effort.  I did go in with a bit of bias since I was already a fan but I believe that any golfer that is interested in improving their game can benefit.  My only issue is the same one that I have with all golf instruction – it’s geared toward right handed players.  We lefties don't get much props, but it isn't a deal breaker.

You can get more details at www.tomwatson.com where it states, “The ultimate Watson learning experience. Lessons of a Lifetime is just that, lessons learned from childhood through competition, gifts from great teachers he encountered, from grip to chip shots to confident putting and effortless-looking drives, Watson's winning ways are interpreted for you by Tom Watson himself.  This is one that I’ll watch several times and concentrate on the chapters that I really need like “The Grip” and “Playing With Hybrids”.  I’m delighted to have this resource handy.

This 2 DVD set makes a great gift and you can pick it up at the www.tomwatson.com Pro Shop here
