Did I read this right–he played the Lethal and not the Penta ball?? That is a surprise if accurate..

  2. Mike

    Jun 16, 2014 at 12:52 pm

His putter grip is not a ping grip….it was a lamkin deep etch paddle cord.

Am I late this conversation… Is this a typo or is MK only playing 13 clubs in a US Open Championship? No 5-wood? Or 4th wedge?

    • yogagolfcoach

      Jun 15, 2014 at 10:22 pm

Nevermind… read that wrong…. added the 3-iron bent to 2-iron, in addition to another 3-iron at 3-iron loft.

Taylormade Twitter states : 9 5* sldr for Martin. So which one is it?

    • Donald

      Jun 17, 2014 at 9:35 pm

If you enlarge the photo the hosel is set at Lower which would make the stated 9.5, 8.5…..

      • Lawrence Williams

        Jun 17, 2014 at 10:03 pm

Wouldn’t that make it 8*? Or are tour sleeves different?

I keep telling ya, TM needs to forget the insert face on the putters and release a milled one! Your own best player’s proving it!

    • Paul

      Jun 15, 2014 at 8:12 pm

Can’t when every other manufactor owns all patends on milling for putters it sucks!!!

This is from ’10. For those curious: no, he didn’t loft up. Per the link, he’s gone from the r9 to the Supertri to now the SLDR. The loft remained constant at 8.5*, but the shafts have changed.

    May 13, 2014 at 8:20 am

Interesting how he put a forged face on his wedges.

    • Robert

      Jun 16, 2014 at 3:16 pm

They have a muira mico-forged Face in the tour van…

I am more interested in getting the headcover! LOL

I love it. Martin wins the players and a bunch of amateurs start hypothesising on whether his gear is right for him!! HE JUST WON THE PLAYERS!! Go Martin, good to see you on the podium again!

  11. Rodger

    May 12, 2014 at 10:30 am

Loft up depends on the tipping or not tipping of his shaft the X in the Di 6 might be a little weak for him without knowing his exact SS.

    • Jack

      May 12, 2014 at 5:35 pm

You’d think the guys at taylormade are looking after him already, if not there’s always Roger the tipping expert.

The average golfer doesn’t understand the loft up theory. Lofting up is individual for each person. Dynamic loft, launch angle, spin rate, angle of attack etc., are different for everyone. That “8.5” may be lofted up for Martin or that loft combined with the shaft and all other variables gives him the best numbers.

      Jun 16, 2014 at 7:26 am

      Care for more tea? …

I’m fairly certain that if you measure the loft on the newer TM drivers, you’d find the only difference is the number on the back. That 9* is almost never correct anyway, so selling you the same club, but now with an 11 on it creates a great new marketing slogan.

Way to go Martin! Great hold on after the rain delay… Now let’s make that Ryder Cup team!!!!

Hmmm is he a Taylormade staffer, because he had know endorsement on his bag?

  16. John

    May 11, 2014 at 9:49 pm

I wondering if he is running around and loading up on discontinued Lethals like some of us!!!

Anyone notice all the notches on the sole for slider weight?

Love that putter! Its still my gamer too since he won the PGA.

  19. Michael

    May 11, 2014 at 1:01 pm

Kaymer is hitting a fade as his stock shot – Johnson is more of a draw player. That could be the main reason for the different lofts. Dynamic loft is important – not swing speed alone.

As a German guy, I’m just happy to see him playing well again. Go Martin.

    May 11, 2014 at 12:51 pm

It is a bit strange, that Kaymer has 8,5 Loft and Dustin Johnson has 11 degrees of loft .

Maybe they have a very different attack angle but speed wise, I would think DJ is faster

    May 10, 2014 at 10:31 pm

    So much for lofting up..

    • Stephen

      May 11, 2014 at 8:31 am

      A) That probably is lofting up for him (compared to past drivers)
      B) When you swing as fast as him you need a lower loft
      C) His shaft is considered a high launch shaft

      • Mateo

        May 11, 2014 at 11:18 pm

It’s a mid kick firm tip shaft. I wouldn’t call that high launch buddy. Actually far from it.

Really surprises me that he went away from the Rac TP MB irons. He had those in the bag for ages.

    • steve

      Jun 15, 2014 at 8:55 am

If they wear out, can he get another set? Would TM make a few sets just for him? I don’t know maybe he was forced to move on.
BTW he has to be on the TM payroll, I would be surprised if he is not.
